Carlene Aguilar almost backed out of Celebrity Duets
Nakausap ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Carlene Aguilar after the presscon proper of Celebrity Duets Season 2 last night, August 20, sa 17th floor ng GMA Network Center.
CARLENE'S OTHER SIDE.
Sana this time, manalo na ako.
He's only 21, hindi puwede.
Sobrang galing niya! Second choice ko si Janno Gibbs. Kahit siguro sino puwede," pagtatapos ni Carlene.

Vilma Santos gears for three films; says not ready for national polls
Star for All Season and current Batangas Governor Vilma Santos said that she’s thrilled to go back in doing films.
In an interview, Santos revealed that she will be doing three films under ABS-CBN’s movie outfit Star Cinema.
Santos confirmed that it’s already set that she will be doing a movie with Box Office King John Lloyd Cruz.
“Yeah (tuloy iyong movie) pinagmi-meetingan na namin siguro we will start shooting anytime of this year,” she said.
Santos said that for the movie she will be the mother of Cruz’ gay boyfriend.
The governor will also do two films, one with her eldest son Luis Manzano and the other one with Sharon Cuneta.
“Basta ang alam ko tatlo ang commitment ko sa Star Cinema, this one with John Lloyd, one movie with my son and one with Sharon.
The governor also likes the idea of doing a movie with the rumored girlfriend of his son, actress Angel Locsin.
“Siguro a movie with Angel, Lucky and myself,” she said.
Santos as a loving mother to Lucky said that she’s happy for his son’s relationship with Locsin.
Santos is also open to idea of doing a movie with her friend Superstar Nora Aunor.
“Why not basta makabalik muna siya,” the governor said.
She said that she still communicates with Aunor via text messages and shared that the superstar is just doing fine in the United States.
“I just wish her na she’ll be more comfortable pagbalik niya,” she said.
"Not ready" for 2010
Governor Santos who’s promoting the milk education campaign for healthier Filipinos dubbed as “Laki sa Gatas” through the help of Nestle’s Bear Brand dismissed reports that her endorsement marks the start of her campaign for the 2010 national elections.
“Hindi kampanya tayo sa “Laki sa Gatas, no political agenda, no political agenda,” she said.
“Wala itong kinalaman sa politika, wala akong political agenda, whether tatakbo ako ulit or hindi walang kinalaman ito, ito ang totoong concerned ng isang nanay at isang public servant but this has nothing to do sa campaign para sa 2010,” the governor said.
Santos added that let the other think of what they would like to believe as long as she knows the truth, and the truth is that she’s not really thinking of running for 2010.
She said that all she wanted to do is to help and be of service to her constituents in Batangas.
The governor said that if people would ask if she will be running for any national positions or for vice presidency seat, the governor abruptly said: “No, with all honesty my focus is Batangas because I want Batangas to make a difference."
What if the people clamor for her to run for a higher position? “Hindi po sa tinatanggihan ko but at this point in time sa ngayon sasabihin ko ng diretsa sa inyo hindi ko kakayanin at this point in time para makapagsilbi ng buong Pilipinas… ang focus ko Batangas lang wala akong interest sa national position, hindi ko kaya pa.”
The governor also revealed that there are already people who are pushing her to run for 2010.
“May mga nagpapasabi but I don’t entertain it because my focus is Batangas.”
She also cleared that the visit to her made by MMDA chairman Bayani Fernando has nothing to do with upcoming election.
“Si Chairman Bayani naman dumalaw lang siya just to share some of his programs but nabigyan ng ibang kulay but if si chairman ay may planong tumakbo there’s nothing wrong with that, lets respect kung ano ang gusto niyang gawin at kung kaya niya wala tayong magagawa.
Santos said she’s still focusing in Batangas and has a lot of problems to solve like illegal numbers game “jueteng.”
She said that contrary to reports saying that jueteng is flourishing in Batangas, the governor said that she already released memo to all of Batangas mayors that she’s against jueteng.
“Nagpalabas na ako ng memo saying that I’m not encouraging any form of gambling also ‘jueteng,’” she said.
The governor explains that “jueteng” is a perennial problem of the country not only in Batangas, she said that though she’s against all the gambling in Batangas she can not eradicate it without the help of his constituents and other government agencies.
The governor added that she’s not campaigning for anything but only for the proper nutrition of the young ones.
“Seryoso ako sa milk campaign kasi alam ko na iyong datus, ako mismo nakakaalam that’s why I also have this nutrition program in Batangas… okay sa akin itong (milk) campaign for information dissimination regarding the health n gating kabataan ngayon,” the governor said.
The govenor said that a survey shows that the Philippines got the lowest rank when it comes to consumption of milk and that the young ones started to stop drinking milk during their informative years (4 to 7 years old).
Santos also dismissed speculations that she’s active in endorsing her milk product to compete with Sharon Cuneta’s milk endorsement.
Santos said that she’s endorsing “Laki sa Gatas” as a mom and not as an actress-politician.
“I’m doing this as a mom it just happened that I’m also a governor and an actress…lahat iyon rolled into one.
Still healthy
Despite of all the problems she’s battling as the mother of Batangas province, governor Santos still looks young for her age.
She said that aside from drinking milk, what really keeps her young is the love of her family.
“I’m comfortable with my immediate family, they are the one giving all the suppot, everytime they tell me that ‘mom we’re proud of you’ iyon na iyong energy ko adrenalin ko,” she said.
Santos who is married to newly appointed NEDA chief, former senator Ralph Recto proudly shared that her husband is also busy planning projects that will help Filipinos especially after the 2010 elections.
Aside from being happy and loved, Santos still does regular exercises, including taebo and dancing to keep in shape.

Joey Versus Willie Season 2
Last year, we witnessed the word war on national television between two noontime show hosts from rival stations, Willie Revillame and Joey de Leon. One year later, the feud was ignited again and the two noontime shows will be converted to “reality soap operas” for the second time.

August 20, 2007, a mechanical glitch happened in the Wowowee game segment called “Wilyonaryo.” Joey de Leon, on the other hand, dished out some jokes on his noontime show Eat Bulaga regarding the growing controversy in the rival show Wowowee. The next day, Willie Revillame suspended the show for a couple of minutes to answer back Joey’s attacks live on national tv. And the word war continued on a daily basis until the chairman mtrcb, Consoliza Laguardia, mediated to put an end to the word war between the two host comedians.
In the recent show of Eat Bulaga in Los Angeles, Joey de Leon rendered a parody number changing the lyrics of the song “Imagine” by John Lennon. The lyrics goes:
Imagine there’s no 7
Wala nang network war
Wala na ang kapuso
Remake ng MarimarImagine walang bubble gang every Friday
Imagine Mike Enriquez
Walang excuse me po
No Dyesebel to watch for
And no more Gobingo
Imagine no Saksi or Sis
At wala nang dramarama
Channel 2’s the only one
Makikita araw araw
After the video hits Youtube, Willie Revillame fired back at Joey defending Pokwang on the August 18 episode of his noontime show wowowee.
Quoting Willie:
Pokwang, on the other hand, chose to thank the people on her side.
Thank you po.”
With these developments, people are tuning in on both noontime shows waiting for another attacks coming from Joey or Willie. It’s like entertainment beyond entertainment. It’s like watching a reality and you get excited on unexpected things happening.
Come to think of it, Willie Revillame and Joey de Leon have so much in common. They were both reprimanded by MTRCB for uncarelessly blurting out green jokes on tv in the past. They are both comedians, they are both novelty singers, they both had a case in the past and they both have tax issues.
So maybe they are doing this for publicity and for the ratings? We must admit, these controversies fueled their noontime shows’ tv ratings last year so this year can be no different. We just have to take these, nothing more than entertainment.
And as for Pokwang, she had a taste of her own medicine. Remember her show at the music museum a couple of months ago when she made a parody on the Gutierrez twins? Now, it’s time for her to be a victim of a careless joke.

I repeat, libre o walang bayad ang tickets.

John Lloyd Cruz is Betty La Fea’s Armando Solis
Just saw sa The Buzz a while ago–they revealed that Armando Solis, love interest of Bea Alonzo’s Betty La Fea, is no other than Bea’s long-time loveteam John Lloyd Cruz. John Lloyd revealed on the show that the real him is very much unlike the role that he plays in Armando, who is very adventurous both in sports and in courting girls.

Let’s hope this show tops the ratings for ABS-CBN, and I certainly hope The Singing Bee doesn’t get booted out because of this new show.

FEU solidifies semis bid after come-from-behind win vs UST
Far Eastern University took a big step in its final-four aspirations after the Tamaraws defeated the University of Santo Tomas Tigers 74-69 in the men’s basketball tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Sunday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
FEU limited UST to only one field goal in a crucial seven-minute stretch in regulation and then scored on a couple of hustle plays in overtime to raise its record to 7-3 and take hold of solo third place.
Down 51-35 in the third quarter, the Tamaraws went on a 25-9 windup to tie the count at 60 and send the game to extension.
“They showed a lot of heart to pull of this win. That’s all I can say," FEU coach Glenn Capacio said.
In overtime, the game was see-sawing until FEU guard Andy Barroca followed up his own miss to give the Tams a 66-62 lead at the 2:25 mark. Cervantes’s followup with 70 second remaining continue to put UST at bay 70-66 less than a minute to go.
The Tigers’ Khasim Mirza buried a long three-pointer to cut the deficit to 72-69 but he missed an open look at another triple in UST’s last possession.
Four free throws by FEU swingman JR Cawaling snuffed UST’s comeback try and iced the game for FEU.
The loss was a telling blow to UST’s semifinal drive. The Tigers (4-6) fell two games off no.4-ranked University of the East (6-4).
Jervy Cruz tacked 30 points and 13 rebounds to lead UST.

Ripley’s Believe it or Not
Every Monday night, Ripley’s Believe it or Not will cross the threshold of your homes with Kapuso’s newest heartthrob Chris Tiu as host.
You’ve seen Chris as Manny “Pacman" Pacquiao’s co-host in Pinoy Records, and this is his first time to lead a show by himself. “It’s very exciting. Sana mapanood niyo," he imparts. Chris shares that he watched Ripley’s while growing up, so it’s definitely an honor to have the opportunity to host it.
Ripley’s is set amid a high tech studio where Chris delivers strange, uncanny and bizarre stories from all over the globe. More so, an unbelievable gathering of artifacts, one-of-a-kind items and strange exhibits will be unloaded.
Catch Ripley’s episodes every Monday night!
World Records
World Records showcases a riotous collection of physical, backbreaking stunts and jaw-dropping performances achieved by contenders worldwide. Hosted by the very versatile Paolo Contis, each episode features compilations of astounding exhibitions played by international record-setters.
This is Paolo’s first hosting gig, and he says that he really had to make adjustments. “It’s very different. I’m doing my best!"
He spills one of the things to watch out for in the pilot episode: “Ang pilot namin ay dalawang helicopter pilots na gustong mag-inuman, pero habang nagbubukas sila ng beer nila, e [nasa] dulo ng helicopter [yung] pambukas. Yun yung contest nila! Iba’t-ibang challenges yan na gustong gawin ng mga taong skilled pero may ginagawang something for a world record."
World Records airs every Tuesday.
Masquerade
Kapuso’s comic duo, Ariel and Maverick, star in Masquerade—Japan’s longest-running comedy hit series where contestants utilize their inventiveness and wit in the quest to entertain and provide amusement for the masses.
Absolutely goofy-fun, Masquerade brings into play amateur Japanese costumers with props, artistic set design and special choreography to create live visual performances that trick the eye.
“We’re not talking to the audience [here], we’re talking to the ‘madame,’" Maverick explains. “Kasi we’re presenting to her different talents. So we get talents from outside, but actually, yung mga nakikita naming talents, yun yung mga [canned] videos na ipe-present namin. Tapos in the end, she will pick kung ano yung gusto niyang video."
He adds, “Yung mga videos na papakita namin, it’s more of akala mo washing machine, pero tao pala. Akala mo TV o cabinet, tao pala! Para silang Transformers! Tapos eventually baka makakita kami ng local talents who can do the same thing as kung ano ipinapakita sa videos. There’s this group na CosPlay. They can be anything!"
Slapstick humor, astounding ingenuity, weird stunts and wacky presentations await viewers of Masquerade which airs every Wednesday
