Conclusion:

Sukob remains the highest-grossing local movie in Philippine history. A Very Special Love failed to break the record by P7 million. Contrary to the reports that A Very Special Love has surpassed the P200 million barrier, it ended it’s run with just P179.23 million. But the Sarah-John Lloyd romantic comedy is still the no. 1 movie of 2008.

Parehong dumalo ang TV hosts at comedians na sina Joey de Leon at Willie Revillame sa kauna-unahang Supreme To The Extreme Award ng Philippine STAR na ginanap kagabi, October 17, sa Embassy Super Club sa The Fort, Taguig City. Parehong nominado sa magkaibang kategorya sina Joey at Willie.



Bago pa man pumasok sa loob ng Embassy Bar si Willie, tila may ideya na ang Wowowee host na posible silang magkita ng madalas niyang kapatutsadahan na si Joey de Leon, na co-host naman ng katapat niyang programa na Eat Bulaga.



Pero nang makausap ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Willie, nakahanda na raw siya at welcome sa kanya kung sakali at magkasabay man sila ni Joey sa stage.



True enough, nang tawagin na ang pangalan ni Willie bilang winner sa kategoryang Televisionary Award, buong-ningning niyang ibinahagi ang napanalunang trophy kay Joey. Ang naturang award ay iginagawad sa isang TV personality na naging daan upang mabago at magkaroon ng ibang anyo at buhay ang telebisyon.



Si Joey at that time ay nasa kaliwang bahagi malapit sa stage, kasama ang dalawa niyang anak na sina Jaco at Jocas de Leon. Si Willie naman ay nanggaling sa kanang bahagi ng stage.



Ayon sa thank-you speech ni Willie pagkatanggap nito ng kanyang trophy, "I would like to share this award to a supreme talent, supreme icon, my idol, Mr. Joey de Leon. I share this award [with] you."



Sa puntong ito, tumayo na sa kanyang kinauupuan si Joey at sumenyas kay Willie.



"Tito Joey! Alam n'yo, lambingan lang naman namin yung sa TV," natatawang sabi ni Willie. "Lambingan lang namin yun. Alam n'yo, tinulungan ako ng taong ‘yan [noong] nagsisimula pa lang ako. Ako ang sidekick niya sa pelikulang Barbie. Kinuha rin nila ako ni Vic Sotto sa pelikulang Sam and Miguel.



"Akala n'yo, ganoon lang, nag-aaway kami, hindi ho, yun ay patutsadahan lang, lambingan. Si Mr. Joey de Leon, I admire this guy so much. Maliit pa lang ho ako, nasa telebisyon na siya. Siya ang ginagaya ko. Tito Joey!" sigaw ulit ni Willie kay Joey.



Sa puntong ito, sumigaw si Joey at pabirong sinabi kay Willie na, "Pahinging pera!" at nagpalakpakan ang karamihan at nagtawanan.



Sagot naman ni Willie sa sinabi ni Joey, "Sumama ka sa akin sa yate ko at dalhin mo ang mga babae mo!"



Pero sinenyasan ni Joey si Willie na kasama niya ang dalagang anak na si Jocas.



Sabi ni Willie, "Ah, anak mo! O, lolo ka na! Lolo na ako! Bukas naman purihin mo naman ako sa Eat Bulaga!"



Lalong nagpalakpakan ang mga tao at nagsigawan. Pero dugtong ni Willie habang tumatawa, "Sa Tuesday, banatan mo na ulit ako!"



Sa puntong ito ay umakyat na rin sa stage si Joey at tumabi kay Willie.



Si Tim Yap, na siyang may idea ng naturang awards night, ay masayang-masaya sa nangyaring reconciliation ng dalawang komedyante at TV hosts. "Naku, historical na ‘to! Dito lang nangyari ‘to sa Supreme!" sabi ni Willie.



Pagbaba nina Joey at Willie, pinalibutan na agad sila ng TV crew from different talk shows at maging ng PEP.



"Pasalamat tayo kay Tim at sa Supreme. Tama ang sabi ni Willie, mga tuksuhan lang ‘yan. Kaya lang, yung dalawang co-hosts mo [to Willie], paliwanag muna nila kung bakit nakikiiyak sa ‘yo?" biro ni Joey na ikinatawa ng lahat.



Sagot naman ni Willie, "Alam n'yo naman kami, artista! Ikaw nga ang nagturo sa akin niyan. Pero alam mo, hindi ba na-suspend ako, pero noong na-suspend ka, nakidalamhati rin ako!"



Hirit ni Joey, "Talaga? O sige, pengeng pera!" na ikinatawa ni Willie.



Dito na nagsalita si Tim at ito na ang nag-initiate ng mas pormal na pagbabati ng dalawa. Sabi ni Tim, "Once and for all, Willie, Joey, shake hands!" na siya namang ginawa ng dalawa.



Pagkatapos nito, tinanong ng PEP sina Joey at Willie kung ano ang masasabi nila sa naganap na pagbabati nilang dalawa.



"Wala! Hindi naman kami nag-aaway nito!" natatawang sabi ni Joey.



Sabi naman ni Willie, "Hindi ko puwedeng labanan ‘yan!"



Bakit ngayon lang nila ipinakitang okey naman pala sila?



"E, ngayon lang naman kami nagkasama in one roof," sagot ni Willie. "At saka, totoo yung sinasabi ko, isang idolo, isang icon, the living legend, Mr. Joey de Leon!"



Parehong sumagot ng "Hindi pa!" ang dalawa when asked kung pagkatapos ba ng pagtatagpo at pagbabati nilang yun ay tapos na rin ng mga patutsada at parunggitan nilang dalawa sa kani-kanilang noontime shows.



"Hindi pa! Magbabanatan pa kaming dalawa!" natatawang sabi ni Joey.



Sa huli, bago bumalik sa kani-kanilang table, hindi napigilan ni Joey na sabihin kay Tim na sa kanila lang nangyari yun. Hirit pa niya sa ilang TV crew ng ABS-CBN at GMA-7, nadaig daw ng Supreme at Embassy ang The Buzz at Startalk.



Proud naman ang Embassy owner na si Tim sa nangyari. "Sabi nila, sa Embassy puro away, that's not true! Embassy puro peace! Unity, friendship and love!" bulalas ni Tim.

Ibinasura ng Supreme Court ngayong araw, October 17, ang petisyon na inihain ng ABS-CBN upang pigilan ang Department of Justice (DOJ) na tapusin ang pagsasagawa ng preliminary investigation sa stampede na naganap sa unang anibersaryo ng noontime show na Wowowee noong February 4, 2006 sa ULTRA stadium, kung saan 71 ang namatay at daan-daan pa ang nasaktan.



Ayon sa report ng GMA News, pinagtibay ng Supreme Court sa pamamagitan ng isang minute resolution ang jurisdiction ng DOJ sa preliminary investigation nito sa presidente ng ABS-CBN na si Ma. Rosario "Charo" Santos-Concio at sampung iba pa, na inakusahan ng reckless imprudence na nagresulta sa multiple homicide at physical injuries charges.



Sinabi rin ng mataas na korte na nabigo ang petitioners na magbigay ng panibagong issue na maaaring magpabago ng desisyon ng Supreme Court noong January 29, 2008.



Sa naturang desisyon, inutusan ng Supreme Court ang DOJ at ang prosecutors nito na ipagpatuloy ang preliminary investigation upang malaman ang probable cause laban sa petitioners.



Ayon sa Supreme Court, "The Court resolves to deny petitioners' motion for reconsideration with finality, the basic issues raised therein having been fully considered and passed upon by the Court in the aforesaid decision and no substantial argument having been adduced to warrant the reconsideration sought."



Bukod kay Ms. Santos-Concio, na naakusahan noong siya ay executive vice president pa ng ABS-CBN, pinangalanan din bilang respondents sa kaso sina Maria Socorro "Cory" Vidanes, senior vice-president for television production; Marilou Almaden, executive producer; at Cipriano Luspo, assistant vice-president and head of security of ABS-CBN.



Kasama rin sa petition ng Supreme Court ang mga sumusunod: Moly Stewart, Wowowee executive producer and manager; Harold James Nueva, associate producer for sets and technical; Norberto Vidanes, Wowowee director; Rey Cayabyab, assistant location manager and security coordinator; Francisco Rivera, ABS-CBN's location manager; Mel Feliciano, Wowowee's assistant director; at Jean Owen Garcia, floor director.



Samantala, ang host ng Wowowee na si Willie Revillame ay hindi isinama ng DOJ sa charges.



Ang ABS-CBN ang sinisisi sa stampede na naganap sa selebrasyon sana ng unang anibersaryo ng Wowowee sa Philsports Arena sa Pasig City noong February 4, 2006.



Sa desisyon nito noong January 29, 2008, pinabulaanan ng Supreme Court ang paratang ng petitioners na minadali ng DOJ ang pagsasagawa ng kaso.



Naglabas na rin ng resolution ang investigating panel ng DOJ noong October 9, 2006 kung saan napag-alaman nila na may probable cause upang sampahan ng kaso ang mga akusado para sa krimen. Ang motions for reconsideration ng mga akusado ay naghihintay pa rin ng resolution mula sa DOJ.



Isang hiwalay na kaso ang isinampa laban kay Willie, na klinaro na sa anumang criminal liability kaugnay ng naganap na stampede.

Pagkatapos ng tatlong beses na pagsubok upang kunan ng pahayag ang dating aktres na si Nadia Montenegro kaugnay ng pagkakasuspinde ng kontrata ni Cristy Fermin sa ABS-CBN, nagtagumpay rin sa wakas ang PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa ikatlo naming pagsubok.



Hangga't maaari sana ay ayaw magsalita ni Nadia ngunit nagbigay rin siya ng pahayag pagkatapos lumabas sa Philippine Daily Inquirer ngayong araw, October 17, na sinabi raw niya na kasalukuyan na siyang nakikipag-usap sa kanyang mga abogado para sa kanyang susunod na hakbang laban kay Cristy.



Sa text message na ipinadala ni Nadia sa editor-in-chief ng PEP at YES! magazine na si Ms. Jo-Ann Maglipon kaninang hapon, nilinaw ni Nadia na, "Hindi ko alam kung saan nakuha ng Inquirer 'yan. Hindi ako nagpapa-interview sa kanila."



Kasalukuyang nasa gitna ng isang mapait na word war sina Nadia at Cristy matapos sabihin ng huli sa The Buzz noong October 5 na nagkaroon diumano si Nadia ng anak sa labas mahigit dalawang taon na ang nakararaan. Noong Martes, October 14, ay nagsadya si Nadia sa tanggapan ng Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) sa Quezon City upang maghain ng reklamo laban kay Cristy dahil sa mga mapanirang salitang binitawan nito sa programa.



Sa kanyang pakikipag-usap kay MTRCB Chairman Consoliza Laguardia ay personal na ipinahatid ni Nadia ang kanyang petisyon na suspendihin si Cristy sa The Buzz at patawan ito ng kaukulang penalty. Ayon sa dating aktres, lumabag ang beteranong kolumnista sa ilang broadcast rules dahil ginamit nito ang isang television program para dungisan ang kanyang pangalan sa publiko.



Isang araw naman matapos maghain ng reklamo si Nadia sa MTRCB ay inanunsiyo ng ABS-CBN network ang desisyon ng pamunuan na suspindihin ang kontrata ni Cristy sa The Buzz at sa kanyang daily radio program sa dzMM na Showbiz Mismo hanggang sa katapusan ng taong kasalukuyan (December 31, 2008).



Ayon sa official statement na ipinakalat ng Lopez-owned Kapamilya network: "Sa pananaw ng kompanya, nadamay ang mga batang walang kinalaman sa kontrobersya sa kanyang pahayag.



"Nalabag din ng aksyon ni Ms. Fermin ang mataas na batayan ng propesyonalismo at integridad sa pamamahayag. Ito ay nagdulot ng kapinsalaan hindi lamang sa kanyang pangalan at kredibilidad, kundi sa programang The Buzz at sa ABS-CBN."



"MY LEGAL PLANS ARE STILL PENDING." Sa text message na ipinadala ni Nadia kay Ms. Maglipon, inilabas niya ang kanyang saloobin sa ibinabang desisyon ng ABS-CBN na suspindihin si Cristy.



Narito ang eksaktong nilalaman ng mensahe ni Nadia:



"I found out about the suspension sa news. And I have nothing else to say regarding the issue. I just continue to pray for my family, Boy [Asistio, Nadia's husband] and most especially for my children, that they may recover from all the pain and shock this nightmare have cost their innocent minds.



"My family is recovering well, although nothing and no one can ever erase the permanent scar that is in their hearts. I believe it was my children's GUARDIAN ANGELS FROM HEAVEN that gave them justice. No child deserves what my children are going through. I love my family and I will fight for their right till the end. My legal plans are still pending. At the moment, I just want to spend time and enjoy (my kids' sem break) with my family.



"We are busy and excited preparing to celebrate our 20th [wedding] anniversary and a thanksgiving mass with family and friends this weekend. If there is one thing good that came out of this is that my family is now 100 times stronger. Walang makakabuwag sa pamilya ko."




Bilang pangwakas ay nagbigay rin ng mensahe si Nadia sa PEP at sa mga PEPsters: "Lastly to PEP and all PEPsters and to everyone who texted and supported me, THANK YOU. Thank you for praying and for airing my side of the story two weeks ago. All your e-mails have inspired me a lot, alam ko umpisa pa lang ito. But I pray na sana matapos na ito. Thank you."



Pagkatapos makuha ang reaksiyon ni Nadia ay sinubukan din ng PEP na kunan ng pahayag si Cristy sa pamamagitan ng PEP contributor na si Melba Llanera. Pero sinabi ni Cristy na hindi naman talaga siya nagpapa-interview kaya't gamitin na lamang daw ang mga isinulat niya sa kanyang mga column sa tabloids kaugnay ng kinasasangkutang isyu.



Bago pa man nakunan ng pahayag si Cristy ay nailathala na rito sa PEP kaninang umaga ang mga isinulat niya sa kanyang mga column sa tabloids.

Total Performer Gary Valenciano dismissed reports that couple Sharon "The Megastar" Cuneta and Senator Francis Pangilinan have separated.

In an interview, Valenciano, the brother-in-law of the senator, said that the issue of Sharon-Kiko ‘break up’ came up only once within the family--and they believe that there was no truth to it.

"You know what? That whole topic, that whole issue sa family only came out once and that’s it,” Valenciano said.

Valenciano is married to Angeli Pangilinan, sister of Senator Pangilinan.

Valenciano said that they learned about the issue via text message, adding that the rumors coming seem to be trying to destroy the solid relationship of the couple.

“There was a text mesage came out there na might be some chismis; some people are trying to destroy the relationship of Kiko and Shawie but we know the truth just take it as is,” he adds.

Valenciano stressed that Pangilinan clan was not affected by the said report, citing that if the problem was really serious a family meeting would have been called.

“No actually talagang hindi (naapektuhan) kasi kung talagang apektado kami lahat there will be a meeting of everybody. If anybody is affected kawawa lang siguro si Frankie at Miel. if at all makakarinig sila ng kung anu-ano,” Valenciano said.

The singer revealed that Cuneta is very close to the Pangilinan family, and that the reason they believe that nothing is wrong with Sharon and Kiko’s marriage--if there was, Sharon would have opened up about it already.

“Sharon and Kiko kasi especially Sharon she's close to other members of the family. Also she's open [to us],” he said.

Valenciano said that if ever reports come out that the senator and the megastar had an argument, it’s just normal since all the couples experience same thing.

“Alam mo kapag hindi nagkakaron ng arguments ang couple it’s very abnormal,” he explains.

Valenciano said that as proof that Sharon and his brother-in-law are okay, they even went out on a dinner the night Cuneta arrived from her short vacation in Hong Kong with her first child KC Concepcion (by former husband actor Gabby Concepcion) and friend Fanny Serrano.

“As soon as she arrived they went all out together,” Valenciano ended.

Valenciano is now gearing for his upcoming concert dubbed “Gary V: Live at 25” at the Araneta Coliseum this coming November 14 and 15.

The concert is part of the celebration for his 25th year in showbiz.

Pagkatapos maitanghal ng Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC), Inc. ang kanilang 24th Star Awards for Movies nung June 27, 2008, ang 22nd Star Awards for Television naman ang pinaghahandaan ng nasabing press club.



Pagkalipas ng halos dalawang buwang pagre-review ng best TV shows and performances ng nakaraang taon, pormal nang inihayag ng voting members ng PMPC ang mga nominado para sa darating na 22nd PMPC Star Awards for Television.



Para sa taong ito, napili ng PMPC si Ms. Rosa Rosal bilang recipient ng Ading Fernando Lifetime Achievement Award, at si Senator Loren Legarda naman ang gagawaran ng Excellence in Broadcasting Lifetime Achievement Award.



As of press time ay inaayos pa ang mga detalye para sa Gabi ng Parangal na malamang ganapin by late November. Samantala, narito ang official nominees ng 22nd PMPC Star Awards for Television:



Para sa Best Single Performance by an Actress category, lahat ng nominado ay mula sa Maalaala Mo Kaya ng ABS-CBN. Sila ay sina Gloria Romero ("Singsing" episode), Susan Roces ("Basura"), Helen Gamboa ("Mesa"), Cherry Pie Picache ("Tren"), Shaina Magdayao ("Telebisyon"), at Angel Locsin ("Pilat"). Ang mga beteranang aktres na sina Gloria Romero at Susan Roces ay ngayon lang magkakalaban sa isang TV award-giving body.



Para sa Best Single Performance by an Actor (na ang mga nominado ay galing muli sa MMK), nagpakitang gilas sa larangan ng pagganap ang dalawa pa ring veteran actors ng Pelikulang Pilipino na sina Dolphy ("Bisikleta" episode) at Eddie Garcia ("Singsing"). Makakalaban nila ang higit na mas bata sa kanilang sina Gary Valenciano ("Bag"), John Wayne Sace ("Mesa"), Gabby Concepcion ("Taxi"), at ang batang si Joshua Dionisio ("Sako").



For Best Drama Actress, magtutunggali sina Dina Bonnevie (Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita), Judy Ann Santos (Ysabella), Sunshine Dizon (Impostora), Angel Locsin (Lobo), Lovi Poe (Sine Novela Presents: Kaputol Ng Isang Awit), at Coney Reyes (Ysabella).



Best Drama Actor nominees naman sina Mark Anthony Fernandez (Impostora), Piolo Pascual (Lobo), John Lloyd Cruz (Maging Sino Ka Man: Ang Pagbabalik), Tirso Cruz III (Sine Novela Presents: Kaputol ng Isang Awit), Ryan Eigenmann (Lobo), Sam Milby (Maging Sino Ka Man: Ang Pagbabalik), at Robin Padilla (Joaquin Bordado).



Best Drama Anthology nominees ang Maalaala Mo Kaya at Your Song ng ABS-CBN and Magpakailanman at Maynila ng GMA-7.



For Best Primetime TV Series, pasok sa panlasa ng PMPC ang dalawang Kapamilya shows na Lobo at Ysabella, samantalang tatlo naman ang Kapuso shows: ang Impostora, La Vendetta, at Joaquin Bordado.



Kahit noon pa ay may rule sa PMPC na hindi puwedeng i-nominate ang anumang show (and its performances) na halaw o franchise ng anumang imported TV show, tulad ng Marimar.



Nominees naman bilang Best Daytime Drama Series ang Prinsesa Ng Banyera ng ABS-CBN at tatlong Sine Novela presentations ng GMA: Kaputol ng Isang Awit, Maging Akin Ka Lamang, at My Only Love.



Sa larangan ng Comedy in Philippine television, napansin ng PMPC ang mga sumusunod na Best Comedy Actress nominees: Pokwang (That's My Doc), Ai Ai Delas Alas (Komiks Presents: Volta), Rufa Mae Quinto (Bubble Gang), Susan Roces (John En Shirley), Sharlene San Pedro (Goin' Bulilit), Nova Villa (That's My Doc), at Maricel Soriano (John En Shirley).

Sa Chika Minute portion ng GMA news 24 Oras nitong Huwebes, sinabing naging kapansin-pansin ang pagiging matamlay sa isa’t isa nina Jean at Polo sa press conference ng pinakabagong telefantasya ng Kapuso Network na “Gagambino."

At lalo pa umanong lumakas ang hinala na may tampuhan ang dalawa sa sagot na ibinigay ni Jean tungkol sa kanila ni Polo.

“Wala lang…basta tingnan na lang natin kung ano ang mga susunod na kabanata," ani Jean.

Bago nito, may mga ulat na may nakakita raw kay Polo kasama ang baguhang aktres na si Krissa Mae sa isang bar.

Hindi naman ito itinanggi ni Krissa na unang nakilala bilang “Go Binggo" girl sa games show ni Arnel Ignacio.

“Marami kami mga 15 yata…girls and boys dun lang kami nagkwentuhan," paliwanag ni Krissa na kasama rin sa “Gagambino" na pangungunahan nina Dennis Trillo at Katrina Halili.

Idinagdag pa ng dalaga na tinulungan din siya ni Polo na maghanap ng murang mauupahan dahil sa nasa Amerika ang kanyang pamilya.

“Sinamahan ako ni Polo at yung mom nya para tingnan yung place," paliwanag niya.

Idinagdag naman ni Polo na hindi dapat bigyan ng malisya ang ginawa niyang pagtulong kay Krissa.

Hunk actor, Zanjoe Marudo, who is considered one of the most-sought actors in showbiz is now busy promoting his first leading and first digital film titled "Altar."

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Marudo shared that he did the horror-suspense film last summer with actress Dimples Romana.

"Horror-suspense ito tungkol s aisang boksingero na nag-retiro sa States dahil nakapatay siya ng kalaban niya. Pagbalik niya sa Pilipinas nagtrabaho siya sa isang bahay bilang karpentero at sa bahay may basement na mayroong multo na ang pwede lang makapatay sa demonyo ay isang tao na may malinis na puso na nakagawa na ng kasalanan," he narrated.

Marudo said he accepted the role because of its good script. He added that it was a dream for him to do an independent film, This was the reason, he said, that when it was offered to him he agreed to do it right away.

The actor said that doing a horror film for the first time was not that easy since he had imagine frightful stories.

"Wala akong experience na nakakatakot pero matatakutin ako sa mga ganyan, nahirapan ako kasi parang first time kong gagawin. Malakas siyang makakuha ng energy kasi iba ang acting na kailangan dito hindi siya nakakatawa o ma-drama ‘yong takot, kailangang mapaniwala mo ang tao na mayroon talaga," he said.

Marudo said that "Altar" is really different from other digital films but said the viewers will really love watching it.

"Dark siya malalim at saka first time ko pa lang makakita at makarinig ng ganyang istorya, so kakaiba," he said.

The actor said aside from the good story he would not forget the film since he needed to work eight days straight to complete it.

"Eight days ‘yon umaga hanggang umaga ‘yon," he said.

Marudo said that doing his first starring film is so special and also hopes that he could win an award for it.

"Sana magkaroon. Pero ibibigay naman ‘yon sa tamang panahon at saka sa tamang project," he said.

'Altar'

Marudo said that "Altar" is his second movie after the big-screen hit "You've Got Me" with Toni Gonzaga.

Directed by Rico Maria Ilarde, “Altar” is a suspense-drama-thriller film that tells the story of Anton (Marudo), a professional boxer in States who accidentally killed an opponent in the ring.

He returns to the Philippines and finds himself jobless. He is hired as a carpenter by a mysterious foreman named Erning, who assigns him and a man named Lope to renovate an creepy, old house on the border of the city.

They soon discover that the place is haunted by the apparition of a young girl, and that the basement carries a strange wooden altar for an unknown deity. Truly blood-curling events follow one after the another, snowballing into a deeply disturbing and violent climax.

"Altar," which is part of 2007 Cinema One Originals also joined the 2008 Vancouver Film Festival in Canada and Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy, April of this year.

Marudo who just finished his weekly show "Varga" with real life sweetheart Mariel Rodriguez said that he might do another digital film early part of next year.

The hunk actor who is busy taping "Dyosa" is also set to do "Weddings." You can also catch Marudo with his upcoming horror show “Florinda” with Maricel Soriano.

Marudo is a part of ASAP's all-male-group Coverboys.

From the fertile mind of Carlo J. Caparas comes another graphic novel-turned-TV series that will start spinning its web of tales and adventures on Monday, October 20. Starring Dennis Trillo, Gagambino will air on GMA-7 in replacement of Dyesebel, which will be ending this Friday, October 17.

This new Kapuso fantaserye tells the unique friendship between an orphan and his faithful friend--a giant spider. Portraying the lead role of Bino is Dennis Trillo who will use his newfound powers to eradicate crime and promote peace and order in the city. Because of his spider-like abilities, people will call him the superhero Gagambino.

Joining Dennis in this drama-adventure series are Raymart Santiago, Katrina Halili, Polo Ravales, Nadine Samonte, Isabel Oli, Glaiza de Castro, Glydel Mercado and Jean Garcia. Gagambino begins in the mysterious and powerful place known as Tierra Higanta, the land of giant insects where only pure-hearted humans can live and interact with the gigantic creatures.

Zandro (Leo Martinez), the warden of the gate of Tierra Higanta is in search for a good person who can be the new keeper of a powerful medallion, the key to the portal of Tierra Higanta. Zandro seeks a replacement to protect the powerful medallion from his former disciple Abresia (Jean Garcia) who has been corrupted by power and greed.

In his search, Zandro meets a young boy named Bino, who has a strong desire to avenge his father's death. Zandro taps Bino to be the next medallion keeper and asks him to enter a mysterious cave that can give him immense power.

Filled with hope that he'll finally get the superpower he needs, Bino rushed towards the cave Zandro told him about. Unknown to Bino, his friends Lucy (Katrina), Bernadette (Isabel), Leah (Glaiza), Jinky, and Harold (Polo) followed him. When they all entered the portal, they fell into a pit that magically led them into the world of Tierra Higanta.

Bino was supposed to go to the cave alone but since his friends had followed him, their noise disturbed the giant insects that suddenly attacked them. Just when they lost hope, they were saved by a good-hearted giant spider.

The young man and his friends are able to leave the enchanted cave but when they return to the real world, they discover that they have absorbed powers from the giant insects. Lucy has the ability to jump high and has large blades on he arms just like a praying mantis. Harold, the man-beetle, has a body that is impenetrable by bullets and can crush walls with his bare hands. Leah can also fly like the others, she can sting like a bee and use her voice to fight her enemies. Bernadette is a reluctant superhero who possesses scorpion-like abilities. She blames Bino for being unable to live a normal life.

With only his giant spider friend for company, Bino grows up in the cruel streets of Manila taking odd jobs to earn a living. He begins to fully develop his spider-like powers--he leaps with great speed, he crawls on walls swiftly, he can pass through and even hides himself under the ground. While growing up, Bino rarely uses his powers to save others since he doesn't know if he should use his extraordinary abilities.

The villain of the story, Abresia, spreads terror on the populace through her own powers derived from the locust or balang.

Tension arises between Bino and Harold when they fall in love with the same girl called Celine (Nadine Samonte).

Bino will then meet a man who can guide him in maximizing the powers he acquired in Tierra Higanta--the good-natured policeman named Dindo (Raymart Santiago). With Dindo's guidance, Bino will finally embrace his fate and will use his powers to save and protect those who are in need.

Veteran actor Mark Gil said that he is not particular when it comes to accepting roles in independent movies.

Gil said he considers 'indies' as projects that are vital to the movie industry.

"Hindi naman ako masyadong choosy. 'Indie' talaga are the ones that have taken over the movie industry. Ito na lang, and these are the ones that keep the industry alive," he said.

Gil started working for independent films in 2005. He said that aside from doing his latest films UPCAT and Alon, produced by Cinema One Originals, he is also open to doing short films for students.

"I've done so many already, short films. It's my love for film, that even young directors, even in schools when they do their thesis I entertained those things. Even if it's not a mainstream thing, you just do it for the class. I do short films for them and I do assessment for some of their films," said Gil.

Gil said he does short films if the story is good.

"Marami akong nagawa kahit cameo roles ay pinapatulan ko yon. Kasi it's always good to be in good projects even to be part of it. It's not as lucrative as the mainstream, pero masarap, masaya. It's fulfilling," the actor said.

UPCAT & Alon

Gil is now busy for his two indie projects “UPCAT” and “Alon.”

"Sa UPCAT I play the father of Hiyasmin Neri... Pro-UP ako para akong alumnus ng UP and I would insist that my daughter would be in UP. But then her, being a teenager and all that mayroon siyang ibang interest. What makes this interesting is that Bembol Roco is in this film. He plays the father of his son Felix," Gil said.

The actor said that Felix Roco in the story wants to go to UP but his father the older Roco thinks otherwise. Gil said that UPCAT tells the story of two families with different interests. "That's as far as I can go because I only had one day work and I play a guest role," he said.

In "Alon" Gil works with actresses Eula Valdez and Charee Pineda.

"It's a story of a May-December affair. This man is married, he's got a wife who's dying. They are secluded in this island. And then this young girl who comes to my place all the time and she falls in love with me and I fall in love with her. And my dying wife insists na kung mamatay siya, sana, kung itutuloy ko ang buhay ko, sana ay yun na lang, yung batang yon. So doon mangyayari ang complications," Gil said.

Gil added that “Alon” has a wonderful story and it was really difficult for him as an actor to portray the role since it is very poetic.

He said that "Alon" is more of a picturesque movie unlike UPCAT which is light and simple -- a movie that the youth will really enjoy.

He said the two films from Cinema One Originals are worth watching.

"Dapat itong panoorin ng tao dahil we do this for love and passion. Lahat naman ng inaano ng Cinema One ay magaganda at sila ang medium ng pelikulang Pilipino ngayon," he added.

Gil’s remarkable mainstream films were “Magnifico” with Jiro Maño and “A Love Story” with Maricel Soriano and Aga Muhlach.

It looks like there is no end yet to the verbal tussle between DJ Mo Twister and former girlfriend Bunny Paras.

Paras, a former actress who is now based in the United States, is in town to attend the wedding of her friend, television host and actress Cheska Garcia. She, however, found herself entangled yet again in a controversy involving Mo.

Paras and Mo have a nine-year-old daughter, Moira.

Mo disapproved of Paras’ decision to grant media interviews, revive old issues and discuss publicly the health condition of their daughter who was diagnosed with Miller Fisher Syndrome.

"It’s not really good for the health of my daughter… I’ve been in so many issues these past years. It really doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is that parang it just ruins our relationship more and more every time na lumalabas siya," Mo told reporters during the press conference of ABS-CBN News Channel’s new shows on Tuesday.

Paras recently appeared on ABS-CBN’s showbiz talk show "The Buzz" where she appealed to the television and radio host to spend more quality time with their daughter.

Paras cited an instance when Moira was in the Philippines for a summer holiday for two months but only got to see her father three times.

"Sana more quality time. Tumawag ka naman, mag-email ka naman sa kanya. More as a father, i-try mong i-practice naman ‘yon," she said.

To which Mo replied: "’Tawagan mo naman anak mo?’ How? You guys are like dictators in that household."

Mo also got irked when Paras, in her interview on The Buzz, made it appear that he was not involved in the preparations for Moira’s birthday, which will be held in the country next month.

"…. we’re funding this together and setting up together. It’s like I don’t want to be part [of the celebration] and that I don’t care," he said. "Sinabi pa niya she [would invite] TV crews to my daughter’s birthday party, which is a month and three weeks away. It’s like what’s more fun really to you, is it raising a child or raising [her] publicly?"

He also accused Paras of giving "vague and very leading answers" when she was asked if he was financially supporting Moira.

"When they asked her, ‘does Mo support your daughter?’ She said, ‘why don’t you just ask him?’ What are you talking [about]? Of course, I support my daughter…. I know I support my daughter financially. She knows that, my family knows that, her family knows that," he said.

He also clarified that he was not able to get in touch with Paras the moment she arrived in the country because he was in Europe for a whole week.

"Sinabi niya I told her daw she’s the one calling TV shows. I know she’s not calling them, I know they’re calling her but without trying to sound like an a*****e the only reason why they’re interviewing Bunny it’s because of me," he said.

Mo also criticized his former girlfriend for bringing up decade-old issues. He said contrary to reports their relationship is "not as bad as it looks like on TV."

"Next time, when you’re on TV, I know you love being on TV, how about for our daughter’s sake make it look like we’re all right, we’re OK?" he said.

He said Paras reveals information on TV that but these were either "untrue" or "very exaggerated."

On Paras’s fiance Filipino-American boyfriend, Tom, meanwhile, Mo thanked him for taking good care of Moira. He said when he went to the United States he got a chance to hang out with Tom and "he’s a nice guy."

During her 23rd birthday, Marian Rivera got a very special gift. Thanks to the schemes of her hardworking manager Popoy Caritativo, she got a chance to communicate with her father again after five long years. Since then, they never lost touch, and Marian could finally declare that she knows the meaning of true happiness.

Five years after

Marian explains that she really had no idea during the Araneta birthday concert that she was going to hear her father's voice via a pre-recorded message.

"Hindi ko alam! Promise! Kasi pinapahanap ko siya [sa] tita ko (her mom's sister), kasi nagkaroon kami ng hindi pagkakaintindihan. So mga ilang months din kaming hindi nag-usap [ng tita ko]. Sabi ng tita ko hindi raw niya mahanap yung papa ko.

"Sabi ko, hindi, nagsisinungaling ka! E best friend ng tita ko yung papa ko, imposibleng wala silang communication.

"Hindi ko alam, si Popoy pala kinutingting niya yung phone ko. Nakita niya yung number ng tita ko, na alam niyang best friend ng papa ko. Noon pa pala ako gustong kausapin ng papa ko; talagang ginawa nilang hindi ako kausapin para i-surprise ako doon sa concert. So wala talaga akong alam. Ang maganda noon, pagkatapos noong concert, kinabukasan nagtawagan—at araw-araw, sa ginawa ng Diyos, thank you talaga, araw-araw nag-uusap kaming dalawa.

"Sa umaga pa lang, paggising ko, may text na siya sa akin. ‘Kamusta ka na, anak? Sana maganda ang araw mo ngayon, wag kang magpapagod. Mahal kita.’ Ganyan-ganyan. Tapos nag-uusap kaming dalawa na, pasensya ka na, 'di na daw niya maibabalik yung noon."

Now that they're in touch again, does Marian plan to visit her dad in Spain?

"Sana," Marian replies. "Kaso nga lang may gagawin ako. Siya ang uuwi, alam ko by April (2009). Pero 'di ko papakita sa inyo!"

People have said that she looks exactly like her father. What does she think?

"Mas lamang pa nga siya sa akin e!"

Marian says she found out that her dad already has a family of his own in Madrid, and she even has half-sisters. She fesses up that she's still quite overwhelmed by everything, but she assures iGMA that she is truly happy.

A brief background

Marian's parents separated when she was only two years old.

"Nag-divorce na sila," she explains. "Mama ko [noong una] nandoon [sa Spain]. Pero siguro hindi rin niya kinaya na nandoon siya, [tapos] nandoon yung papa ko. So nag-London siya. Tapos noong naging okay naman ako, sabi ko Ma, kasi may business naman mama ko, may bahay naman siya, sabi ko, Ma, 'di mo na kailangan magtrabaho, kaya ko na yung sarili ko. Bakit hindi ka na lang magpahinga. Tsaka wala rin kasing kasama yung lola ko sa bahay. So parang sa madaling salita, inuto ko siya na mag-stay dito! So okay naman siya.

"Pero alam ko by mga May (2009), gusto naman niya mag-gala. Kasi ang tagal na niya ditong walang ginagawa, 'di ba? Gala na lang ng gala sa mall araw-araw!"

Marian shares that her mom also got to talk to her dad recently. "Nakakatawa na naiyak ako na nakausap ng mama ko yung papa ko. Tapos naka-speaker, tapos tumatawa ako. Parang kinikilig ako para sa kanilang dalawa. Pero sabi nga ng papa ko, mahirap nang ibalik yung [dati]. Ang importante, masaya [ako], masaya si mama, at nag-uusap [kaming] tatlo. Kaya ako din e, hindi ko na fino-force yung sarili ko [na], ‘Ay, magkakabalikan pa sila.’ Noon pa lang, tanggap ko na na hanggang doon na lang. Ang importante ngayon may communication, masaya kaming lahat, at lahat kami okay yung buhay."

Bliss

"Sabi ko nga wala na akong hihilingin pa," Marian imparts, a look of satisfaction on her angelic face. "Ngayon, sobrang masasabi ko na, ito yung totoong saya sa buhay ko. Although masaya ako na nandito ako ngayon, na na-achieve ko yung mga gusto ko, iba pa rin kapag sa family e—iba yung nararamdaman mo pag yung pamilya mo yung okay.

"Sabi ko nga ang bait ni Lord. Parang lahat na sa buhay ko naging okay—pati yung career, pati yung ipon—nandoon na. Tapos family ko okay naman, sabi ko Papa ko na lang ang kulang.

"Tapos naayos, Diyos ko, wala na akong hihilingin sa buhay ko. Siguro pag-ibig na lang!" - iGMA.tv

One of the most inspiring people inside the Academy, Pinoy Dream Academy ex-scholar Sen Nichols will be spending his birthday in the midst of some of his biggest fans – cancer survivors just like him.

Sen’s birthday will be on October 21 but he will be having an early celebration this Saturday, October 18 at V Luna Hospital. As a cancer survivor, Sen sees the importance of inspiring others, especially those who are continuously battling against it, and sharing what he has experienced.

“Since I was able to inspire people through my life experiences I'd like to spend part of my birthday helping a foundation that supports kids who are going through what I went through. I would also like to spend my birthday to thank my fans, because without them I wouldn't be where I am today.”

Kythe Foundation is a non-stock, non-profit organization that caters to the psycho-social needs of pediatric patients, especially those with cancer and other chronic illnesses. They are the pioneer of the Child Life Program in the Philippines. A volunteer from Kythe Foundation followed Sen’s story and journey via ABS-CBN and Pinoy Dream Academy and approached PDA asking if he could help.

Sen shared that he was more than willing to volunteer his time and presence and smilingly said that he is excited to spend part of his birthday with the kids, which would definitely make his birthday more special. The special event will be facilitated by Ito Rivera of Kythe Foundation.

But what does someone like Sen wish for?

“My Birthday wish this year is that I continue to grow and bloom in showbusiness so that I may have a long fruitful career doing the thing that I love the most.”

Dahil after ng pinagbidahang afternoon series, ang Kaputol ng Isang Awit, may bago na ulit siyang serye at this time, balik-primetime naman nga siya via Gagambino.

"Sa wakas!" masayang sabi nga niya nang makausap ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa bonggang press launch na ginanap kagabi sa Studio 3 ng GMA-7. "Alam mo yun? Sabi ko nga, after ng Kaputol...gusto ko namang magpahinga. ‘Tapos, parang habang tumatagal-tagal na, parang sa sarili ko lang, siguro mga three weeks, gusto ko nang umarte ulit.

"'Tapos noong tumatagal na, parang ay, mahaba na talaga. Walang nangyayari. So, yun, medyo nainip ako. Pero yung paghihintay ko naman, worth it naman kasi, ang ganda naman talaga ng napasukan ko."

Originally, ang alam daw niya ay sa ibang series sana siya ilalagay.

"Dapat talaga hindi ako rito sa Gagambino. Sabi nila, Lalola raw ang mauuna. ‘Tapos, biglang naging Gagambino. Yung role ko pa, hindi naman basta-basta. Mga superheroes kami."

Isa raw siyang bubuyog dito. Nakagat daw kasi siya ng bubuyog kaya nakuha niya ang power nito.

"Yung power ko, yung boses ko, kapag mataas na at malakas, parang nakakabingi. So, yun ang pinaka-power ko. Lumilipad din ako rito. Nag-hand-to-hand combat training din kami. So, yun, more on hand movement ako rito at mabibilis na galaw."

LOVES THE SUPERHERO ROLE. Gustung-gusto nga raw niya ang pagiging superhero niya.

"Ibang-iba talaga sa Kaputol, kasi, medyo pakwela ako dito. Light lang kaya masarap umarte."

So, ano ang pinaka-challenge ng role niya rito?

"Siguro, yung pinaka-challenge yung mga action scenes dahil nga mga superhero kami, obligado kami na maganda yung rehistro ng mga action scenes namin. Kasi, ang laki ng responsibilities na hero ka, pero, hindi ka naman marunong makipag-away. So, dapat lang na physically trained ka.

"Ako pa naman, medyo mabilis akong mapagod kaya kailangan talaga tuluy-tuloy yung pagwo-workout at pagte-training."

Wala raw kaso kay Glaiza kung pagkagaling niya sa isang bida role na sa Kaputol, support naman siya ngayon sa Gagambino.

"Lima naman po kaming superhero rito. At saka sa akin, walang problema kung nagbida na, ‘tapos, maganda naman ang role. Maganda ang project, at saka, bakit naman ako tatanggi pa?"

DEPRESSION AFTER A PROJECT. Alam naman daw niyang hindi siya pinapabayaan ng GMA kung kaya't naghihintay lang siya. Although, sa tulad daw niyang nababakante ng halos dalawang buwan, aminado siyang hindi nawawala na kahit paano, medyo na-depressed siya noon.

"Opo...everytime after project, kapag tumatagal ang pahinga, dumarating talaga sa time na... ‘Ano ba ‘to? Ano ang nangyayari? Ano na ang gagawin natin? Buti na lang, si Alchris [Galura, Glaiza's brother], buti na lang that time, nagkakaroon siya ng ibang raket. Siyempre, yung pambayad sa bahay. Pa-guesting-guesting lang ako at hindi talaga sufficient yung kinikita ko sa mga babayaran namin kaya talagang nagwo-worry ako.

"Dito naman sa Gagambino, kapag nagtuluy-tuloy ito, hopefully, makabili naman ako ng bahay. Yun naman ang goal ko ngayon."

Sa ngayon daw, nagre-rent pa rin kasi sila ng apartment sa may Marilao. She's hoping na kapag nakabili raw siya ng bahay, yung malapit-lapit na sa place of work nila tulad sa Quezon City.

"Gusto ko po talaga, kaso, mahal kapag malapit kasi. Pero yun po talaga ang goal ko ngayon, ang magkaroon ng sariling bahay. At sana nga po, before ako mag-twenty five, meron na kong bahay na fully-paid na."

Sa ngayon, Glaiza is only 21 years old.

NO LOVE TEAM. Back to Gagambino, hindi pa raw niya alam kung magkakaroon ng love interest ang character niya bilang si Leah.

"Hindi ko po talaga alam, wala silang sinabi. Pero baka magkaroon ng connection sa love team naman nina Mart Escudero at Jennica Garcia."

Yung sa kanila ni Marky Cielo, wala na muna ba since Marky is being paired again with Lovi Poe sa Lalola?

"Hindi ko rin po alam, e. Pero ano, tingin ko, pahinga muna sa mga love team ngayon. Sa akin, okey lang naman. At least, para hindi rin ma-typecast sa isip ng mga tao na isa lang ang kapareha ko. At least, mas may chance na paiba-iba naman." - Philippine Entertainment Portal

Masayang binalita ni Katrina Halili sa press launch ng Gagambino sa Studio 3 ng GMA 7 compound na tuloy ang paglipad niya for Amstersdam para sa shooting niya ng Miss X this coming November.

Inaayos na nga raw ni Katrina ang kanyang mga schedules para hindi magkaroon ng problema habang nagsu-shoot sila ng Miss X. Mga two to three weeks din daw sila roon at excited na si Katrina dahil first time niyang makagawa ng pelikula sa labas ng bansa.

"Noong sinabi sa akin, natuwa ako kasi akala ko next year na kami magsisimula pero sinabi sa akin na kailangan by November makapunta na kami roon kasi sobrang malamig na raw sa Amsterdam by January.

"E, ang costume ko pa naman sa Miss X, mga sexy, mga two-piece at maninipis, e, lamigin pa naman ako. Ngayon daw okey ang weather doon at ‘di masyadong kalamigan, kaya this coming November, tuloy ang shooting namin."

Nabanggit din ni Katrina na malapit na siyang matapos sa shooting niya sa One Night Only for Canary Films at magkaroon lang ng additional na eksena para sa pelikulang Sundo ng GMA Films.

"Mabilis kaming matatapos sa One Night Only. Halos every day kasi kami nagsu-shooting at mabilis talaga si Direk Joey Reyes. Sa Sundo naman, tapos na talaga ang mga eksena ko, pero magkakaroon yata ng re-shoot or additional na mga eksena si Direk Toppel Lee kaya may shooting sked ulit ako for GMA Films.

Isa-isang sinagot ni Judy Ann Santos ang mga isyung ibinabato sa kanya sa victory party ng latest movie niya mula sa Regal Films, ang “Mag-Ingat Ka Sa Kulam.”

Una na ang isyu sa kanila ni Robin Padilla. Matatandaan na nagsalita si Robin sa isang interbyu na hindi siya dadalo sa kasal ni Judy Ann at boyfriend nito na si Ryan Agoncillo kapag naimbitahan dahil baka agawin lang niya ang young actress.

Hindi ito nagustuhan ni Judy Ann kaya nagbigay siya ng matatapang na statement laban kay Robin. Kasunod nito, nagpadala ng mensahe si Robin na hindi na siya magre-react sa mga sinabi ni Judy Ann.

“Hindi ko na iniisip ‘yun. Kumbaga, masyang-masaya ako. Walang kapantay ang pagiging masaya ko ngayon. So, whatever happen it was a burst of emotion. Ah, wala na ‘yun. Pinagpasa-Diyos na ‘yun ng lahat ng tao ‘yun,” lahad ni Judy Ann.

May ginawa ba’ng aksyon si Robin pagkatapos niyang isiwalat ang sama ng loob niya?

“Actually, hindi naman na dapat. Ah, nagkataon ng may mga taong hindi makaintindi kung biro man o hindi kung anuman ‘yung talagang nagyari wala na ‘yon. Matatanda na kami para magpatulan pa para sa bagay na ‘yan.

“Irespeto na lang natin. Baka it is also his way na maging payapa. Kumalma na ang isyu. I appreciate it and I respect that.”

Hindi na ba kailangang mag-apologize ni Robin sa kanya, sa boyfriend niyang si Ryan at sa kanyang Mommy Carol?

“Hindi na kasi lalaki pa, e. Mapaglalaruan pa. Okey na ‘yun. kailangang i-deal na lang namin ito as matured people so, okey na ‘yun.”

Paano kung magkasalubong sila ni Robin sa isang okasyon?

“E, kung anu’t anuman magkasalubong kami. Wala namang problema. Matatanda na kami para harapin ng maayos ang isyung ito.”

Once and for all, nagkaroon ba sila ng sweet yesterday noon ni Robin?

“Hindi,” sabay tawa ni Judy Ann. “Pabayaan na natin ‘yung tao. Ipaubaya na natin sa mga anak niya na kasama niya ngayon pati misis niya. And they want to have a very good vacation in Europe. Let’s give it to them. Huwag na natin silang pag-usapan.”

“Huwag na muna. Huwag na rin nating pag-usapan ‘yun.”

Ayaw na niyang mag-hello sa yesterday?

“Nakakatakot ’yun, ha. Hindi, hindi ko alam ‘yun. E, di mag-hello kapag nagkasalubong.”

Ano ang naging reaksyon ni Ryan sa mga sinabi ni Robin?

“Wala,” kibit-balikat ni Judy Ann. ‘Hindi siya na-hurt. Natawa langn siya. ‘Ano na naman ‘yun?’ Si Ryan, e, very ano na mag-isip hindi na nagpapadala sa ganyan. Ako lang ang nadala. Ang Mommy ko syempre magre-react ‘yun.

May mga nagtataka naman kung bakit napakadali nilang ipag-walang bahala ang mga pahayag ni Robin kesa sa naging isyu sa kanila noon ni Piolo Pascual?

“Ibang usapan naman ‘yun,” diin ni Judy Ann.

Paano nagkaiba?

“Mas matanda si Robin, mas bata si Piolo,” tawa ni Judy Ann.

Mas madali ba’ng patawarin si Robin kesa kay Piolo?

“Hindi naman. Ano naman, kumbaga, ano lang ‘yun, hindi naman siya masyadong, nabigla lang lahat ng to. Nagkaroon lang ng misunderstanding at hindi na daoat pinagpapatulan. At hindi na dapat pinag-uusapan. Mabubuhay na naman ang isyu. Ako na naman ang matatanong. Ako naman ang haharap. Lagot na naman ako.”

Pangalawang isyu ang tungkol sa pagseselos diumano sa kanya ni Angelica Panganiban dahil sa kanyang boyfriend na si Derek Ramsay. Magkasama sina Judy Ann at Derek sa bagong teleserye ng ABS-CBN, ang “HUmingi Ako Sa Langit.”

“Talaga? Kasi si Angelica matagal ko na siyang nakasama sa isang soap, ‘yung ‘Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka,’ and naging magkaibigan din naman kami. I’m sure tsismis lang ‘yun. Siguro para may mapag-usapan and everything. ‘ Sa puso ko iingatan ka.

Ano’ng assurance ang maibibigay niya kay Angelica na wala siyang dapat ipagselos sa kanya?

“My God! Ako ‘yung kahuli-hulihang pagseselosan niya sa mundo. If they trust each other and I don’t think they still have to entertain jealoys di ba? It’s a matter of trusting your partner naman, e. If you don’t trust your partner maybe you don’t trust him enough.”

Hindi raw kaya siya ang dahilan kaya naengganayo si Aneglica na mag-aaral din ng pagluluto sa isang culinary school?

“Ah, hindi naman siguro. Basta gusto lang din ng bata na magkaroon ng dagdag kaalaman. Bata kasi 30 na ako, e. I’m sure gusto niyang matuto. Let’s just give it that to her. Huwag na nating lagyan ng iba pang isyu.”

Paano kung gustong magpaturo sa kanya ni Angelica ng pagluluto?

“May bayad ako. Ecthing! Hahaha!

“Nagkasama kami sa soap for almost one year. Nagkaroon ng time na maging close kami. Pero syempre ang tao tumatanda. May mga bagong kaibigan na nakikilala. Ako natuwa ako na kahit papano may na-i-share ako kahit konting advice sa kanya and I hope nakatulong. Kung hindi nakatulong sana nakatulong sa pagma-mature niya.”

Ther was a time ba na ndumalaw si Angelica sa set ng teleserye nila ni Derek?

“Yeah, she visit the set. I guess, normal lang naman ‘yun sa mga magkaka-relasyon dito sa business ‘di ba? And I appreciate, you know, she says hi to everybody. Hindi naman siya nanggugulo sa set and si Derek naman very inspired kapag nandun siya. I guess, nakakatulong isya

“Hindi ba dapat ako ang mainsecure sa kagandahan ng dibdib ng batang ‘yun ‘di ba?

“Ano lang siguro dapat maging komportable na lang sa kung ano’ng meron ka at sa kakayahan mo. Pero hindi ako naniniwala na nagseselos si Angelica. Napakaganda niyang bata para magselos at ang haba-haba pa ng tatakbuhing buhay niya, ‘Day.”

Nagbigay din ngn mensahe si Judy Ann para kay Angelica.

“Naku, sana huwag maapektuhan ‘yung friendship natin. Hindi man tayo ganu’n ka-close sana hindi naman maapektuhan ang friendship natin sa mga ganitong mga lumalabas na isyu. Nakakatawa lang na after so many years na ngayon lang ata ako naisyuhan na may nagseselos. Hahaha!”

Pangatlong isyu ang naganap na nakawan sa kanyang manager na si Alfie Lorenzo worth P10 million.

“Sabi nga. Ay! Sabi nga. Ah, kung anu’t anuman, ako kasi naniniwala ako na mas mabuti na lang na walang nasaktan ‘di ba? Kesa, mas mahal naman ang buhay ng tao kesa sa mga kasangkapan na nanakaw sa bahay. So, sinasabi ng iba na para akong nasunugan kapag nanakawan ka. Pero kikitain mo naman ulit ‘yun, e. ‘Yung buhay kapag nawala ‘yun hindi ko na makukuha ulit.

“So, nu’ng tinext ako ni Tito Alfie, I just told him na naku, magpasalamat na lang ako at walang nasaktan.

“Kung sino man ang nagnakaw noon masama ‘yung ginawa niya pero sana nakatulong. Kunsenya na lang naman niya ang magha-hunt sa kanya sa pagtulog at sana huwag na lang niyang ulitin.”

Pero sabi raw ng manager niya kailangan niyang magtrabaho para may mera na ulit siya.

“Bakit ako?! Bakit ako?! Ganu’n ba ‘yon? Hindi ba dapat kaming dalawa ang magtrabaho?

“Tuluy-tuloy naman ang trabaho ko…para sa akin, para sa pamilya ko. ‘Yung savings ni Tito Alfie savings niya ‘yun. Wala ako’ng kinalaman doon. Maybe tumulong lang ako. ‘Yung donation box, maibabalik ‘yun galing kay God. May mga paraan so, si God na ang magbabalik noon sa mas maayos na paraan. It happen for a reason and I think ‘yung rason kay Tito Alfie, e, alam niya rin ‘yon.”
Pang-apat na isyu ang pagkaka-delay ng teleserye nila ni Derek.

“Baka mga next year. Hindi pa sure. Pinag-uusapan pa. Baka next year kasi inaayos pa namin ‘yung buong istorya ako mismo humiling ako ng immersion with the nurses. Though sinabi rin ng mga staff na baka mas mabuti na alamin ko muna ‘yung mga galaw ng mga nurses.

“Ayoko naman din magbigay ng hilaw na arte sa soap. Kahit TV lang ‘yun syempre dapat karerin ‘yun dahil ayoko na baka sabihin ng tao na sinasabon ko lang ’yung mga gianagampanan ko.”

Pang-limang usap-usapan kay Juday ay ang hindi pagkakatuloy ng contract signing niya with ABS-CBN this week.

“Hindi kasi I had to study the contract first. I have to consult this with the lawyers first and syempre the more na tumatanda ka the more na you have to be careful with whatever contract na pinipirmahan mo.

“Pag-aaralan lang, hindi renewal. Hindi naman syempre kailangan din, you also have to consider the fact and you also have to give it to them na for whatever plans they gave for you in the future kailangan naka-stipulate doon sa contract. Kailangan para hindi magkaroon ng dehado part on both companies, myself and ABS.

“Kumbaga, ayoko namang sabihin na hindi ko sila, ayaw ko naman sabihin nila sa akin, ‘Hindi mo kami inabisuhan or something.’ Gusto ko lang klaro ang lahat. Para wala na ako’ng magiging problema.
“Nasa akin ‘yung contract. Pag-aaralan na lang. Makikipag-meet ako with the lawyers and syempre I have to think first.”

Kasama rin ba sa bagong kontrata niya ang Star Cinema?

“Ay, hindi. Kasi may iba pa ako’ng contract dati sa Star Cinema so, hindi pa tapos ’yun. Baka tatapusin din muna ‘yun if ever they want to renew for another contract. Kailangan tapusin muna ‘yung four pictures.”

So, nakabitin pa kung pipirma siya ulit sa ABS-CBN?

“Ah, hidni naman sa nakabitin, inaaral lang. Syempre kung may negotiation, kung may nagawa mang negotiation with GMA we still have to consider the fact na sa ABS-CBN ko muna dapat ibigay ’yung konsiderasyon na ipaalam at magpaalam at magsalita at ibigay sa kanila ’yung offer dahil sa kanila naman ako nagsimula.”

May offer ang GMA7 sa kanya?

“Meron naman. Matagal na ‘yung talk na ‘yun. Pero GMA FILMS ‘yun. Although I have a very good relationship with GMA. So, ‘yun ang gusto ko’ng i-value at ayokong mag-burn ng bridges sa kahit na ano’ng network. Kasi malaki naman talaga ang naitulong ng dalawang network sa akin.”

Exclusive ba ulit ang kontrata niya sa ABS-CBN kung saka-sakali?

“It really depends sa paguusapan kasi may pros and cons naman ‘yung pagiging exclusive contract artist. Meron ding bagay na pwedeng mabago so, malalaman natin”

May nagsabi kay Juday na possible naman na tumwaid sa dalawangn network since nagagawa raw ito ni KC Concepcion.

Mas mauuna pa kaya ang marriage contract bago ang kontrata niya sa ABS-CBN?

“Management contract siguro. Hahaha!”

Wala pa ba ang marriage contract?

“Wala pa po. Naku, wala pa talaga. Kung meron lang bakit hindi ko sasabihin. Ano lang, masyado lang aligaga ngayon sa mga dapat umpisahan at tapusing trabaho. Bago ka pa man magsimula ng pamilya alam mo na nag-build pa kami ng maayos na foundation.
Mahirap magpakasal na hindi talaga matibay ang pundasyon ninyo.”

Next year na ba ang kasal?

“Ay, hindi ko talaga masabi. Ako I wanted na rin mangyari this year. Pero kung anu’t anuman, sana.”

Last week lang sinabi ni Judy Ann na gusto niya ASAP ay ikasal na sila ni Ryan. Bakit biglang nag-iba ngayon?

“Hindi, kung kagustuhan lang namin ang masusunod at wala kaming iniisip na kung anumang isyu.bakit hindi ASAP ‘di ba? ASAP kung ASAP.

“Sino ba namang couple ang ayaw magpakasal agad? E, kung nasa edad na naman kayo? Alam naman ninyo na nasa tama ang pupuntahan ninyo bakit hindi ASAP?

“Kaya lang syempre, iku-consider mo rin kasi ‘yung pagiging praktikal. Emotionally, okey na, e. Financially, ‘yung status naming dalawa hindi kami pwedeng mag-jump into one square ng hindi kami handa tapos pagsisihan namin.

“So, may isa na kaming anak, nand’yan na si Yohan, so, syempre ‘yung kinabukasan muna ng mga tao sa paligid namin ang umpisahan namin. ‘Yun na lang talaga.”

May hinahabol ba siya na biological clock?

“Ako, noon may hinahabol ako. Pero sa akin na lang kung ibibigay ni Lord. May nagkakaroon pa nga ng anak na 40 bakit naman ako magmamadali? Kung bibigyan ako ni Lord ng anak I’m sure bibigay Niya ‘yun. Siguro kung hindi enough ng si Yohan ang
nandu’n. Kasi baka sabi ni Lord baka hindi niyno matutukan ang anak. Tama na ang isa ‘di ba? So, ako ibibigay ko na lang kay Lord kung ano ang gusto Niyang mangyari.”

Tiniyak naman ni Judy Ann na hindi siya mabubuntis bago siya ikasal.

“Nag-promise din ako kay Mommy na kapag ang pregnant I’m married already.”

Speaking of marriage, dahil daw sa kababanggit ni Judy Ann tungkol sa kasal nila ni Ryan wala ba raw bagong product endorsement na dumarating sa kampo niya.

“Kung anu’t anuman, kung totoo ‘yun o hindi. May mga bagay na hindi pwedeng hbanag buhay dalaga ka. Alangan namang tumanda ako’ng dalaga?

“I believe that doors will open and I also have to fix my personal life as well. Syempre kailangan mo ibigay sa ibang artista ‘yung pinagdadaaanan mo ‘di ba?

“Tapos ‘pag naiwan mo na ‘yun, s aibang aspeto ka naman pupunta.

“Pero may pumapasok pa rin naman. May mga nagre-renew. So, ako kung anuman ang gustong isipin ng tao wala ako’ng magagawa. Huwag naman nilang ipagkait sa akin na magkaroon ako ng sarili ko’ng pamilya,” tapos ni Judy Ann.

The film Death in the Land of Encantos has brought honor to the country when it won numerous awards abroad. However, it was hindered from being screened in the Philippines when it got an "X" rating from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.

The MTRCB report on this Lav Diaz film stated: "The scene where the woman was shown in bed naked with her breasts and vagina (genitalia) are exposed is against the rules and regulations of the board - No exhibition of the genitals." Members Amalia Fuentes, Ros Olgado, and Fr. Nick Cruz reviewed the film and gave the "X" rating.

PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) was able to reach filmmaker Lav Diaz regarding this development and he strongly condemned this action done by the MTRCB. Part of his email reads: "I don't believe in censorship. The existence of the board of censors is very fascistic. Censorship is poison to the arts. Censorship is poison to culture. Censorship is a very feudal act...I will not change anything [in Encantos]. The real struggle is to make good films for our people."

Encantos bagged the Special Mention prize in the Orizzonti section of last year's Venice International Film Festival. At the recently concluded Urian Awards, it received the award for Best Production Design.

The film that tackles the devastation of the Bicol region by super typhoon Reming in 2006 was supposed to be part of the 3rd .MOV Digital Independent Film Festival held this October. However, the screening was canceled because of the "X" rating given by the MTRCB.

Lav Diaz's latest film is Melancholia, which also won in the Orizzonti section of this year's Venice IFF. It will be one of the seven films competing for the Brocka Award in Dekada Cinemanila, which will take place from October 16-29 at Gateway Mall in Cubao. - Philippine Entertainment Portal

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Monday formally released the results of its investigation on the administrative charges filed against a defunct segment of ABS-CBN noontime show.

In its 11-page decision, the DTI found the defunct "Wilyonaryo," segment of the noontime show Wowowee, to have violated Republic Act 7394 or the Consumers Act of the Philippines, a report of GMANews 24 Oras’ Susan Enriquez said.

"A reasonable assessment of the existing game mechanics and procedures implemented at the time of the subject 20 August 2007 Wilyonaryo episode reveals that the game show segment allowed a reasonable likelihood of error and provided the host and organizers significant latitude in controlling the outcome of the contest," the decision said.

With such developments, the bureau ordered the ABS-CBN to pay the P290,000 fine and come up with an execution of written undertaking, the report added.

GMA News tried to get the side of ABS-CBN regarding the issue Monday but they were told that ABS would not be able to give its side for the meantime.

It was on August 20, 2007 that "Wilyonaryo" became controversial because the violet "jackpot" wheel contained two numbers "0"and "2," a report from Philippine Entertainment Portal said.

Actor-singer Piolo Pascual was surprised when he learned about a circulating text message saying that he figured in a car accident.



"Sinabi ni kumpareng Ogie Diaz. Na-surprise din ako parang hindi first time na nangyari ito, di ba, pero walang nakarating sa akin na ganoon," he told reporters before he flew to Guam Friday for ASAP ‘08.

The text message purportedly reads: "Car accident: Si Piolo Pascual balita yan sa TFC, totoo ba?" The message began circulating last week.

Our ship, the My Milagrosa J-Tres docked in this wharf for a major, marathon stopover--we were docked for 12 hours, five in the morning to five in the afternoon, Friday (October 10, 2008)--before we could resume sailing to our destination.

According to the many seasoned seafarers, the long stopover allows for the boarding of additional passengers from Cuyo who are going to Iloilo City or Puerto Princesa City. It also allows the crew of the vessel to unload and load heavy materials.

I was sick with the flu and decided to sweat the virus out out by walking the harbor and seeing the hidden beauty of this island paradise, amidst the seeming isolation of a community almost forgotten by the conveniences of modernity.

I was told that that during the whole stopover wait, I could roam around and get in touch with the "cinematic fossils" left behind by Judy Ann Santos’ "Ploning" before it gets to Hollywood.

True enough, the creamy beach reminded the earnestness of its people in welcoming visitors.

I asked around where Judy Ann one of her more notable scenes in the movie. A small eatery operator volunteered. "D’yan po sa may dagat d’yan. ‘Yang may beach na ‘yan," she pointed out referring to the creamy beach more than almost five hundred meters away from her karinderya.

"At saka d’yan po sa may d’yan sa papuntang pantalan at sa may bayan," added the eatery manager.

As has been widely reported, Judy Ann and after shooting there for weeks, the actress was adopted by the islanders as one of their own.

As one female resident said: "Nang tumagal, parang tagarine na rin si Judy Ann. Hindi na masyadong pinapansin. ‘Yong boyfriend nga, lagi na lang nagmomotor d’yan sa mga kalye d’yan."

But what the Cuyo people still don’t realize is this: once their location island is flashed on-screen during the pre-selection of the Best Foreign Language Film at the 2009 Oscars, this sleepy town just might wake up one day to a sudden arrival of tourists.

"Ploning" is the Philippines' entry to the special category mostly missed out in the past at the first base yet. Who knows next year could be our lucky year?

Director Dante Garcia has already left for the US to attend the screening of his film. "Naghahanap din siya ng pondo para madala ang kanyang pelikula sa Oscars," a source told us, requesting anonymity.

"Kailangan ding mag-lobby ni Dante Nico para mapansin ang pelikula natin," said one gay resto owner in Palawan who said he’s a friend of Garcia.

Before going to Hollywood, Garcia went home to Puerto Princesa City, his hometown, to oversea his many businesses in place.

He’s also set to shoot his new film with Eugene Domingo, no less, as leading lady, titled "Mrs. Recto," about the lives of students getting board and lodging in the university built area of C.M. Recto.

According to our very reliable source, Domingo will be joined in by heartthrobs Piolo Pascual and Jericho Rosales.
