Ogie Diaz says goodbye to 'Umagang Kay Ganda'
Entertainment columnist and host Ogie Diaz revealed that he has been dismissed from ABS-CBN’s popular morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda.”
In a phone interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Diaz, who is known for hosting UKG’s “Umagang Kay Showbiz” said that his dismissal will take effect this coming Monday, October 13.
Diaz shared that he only heard of the decision Friday morning, October 9 in a meeting with officers of News Current Affairs.
He said that the reason behind his dismissal has something to do with the management’s code of Ethics.
“Actually it’s internal… its conflict between my principle and their code of ethics. Ang ending I had a violation. Non-renewal of services,” explains Diaz who is also the host of DZMM’s newest program “Talakan.”
The columnist, who preferred not to elaborate more about his removal from the show ,said that it was just his first violation and there was no warning or suspension that was given to him.
Diaz also publicly announced over “Talakan” that he was indeed fired.
In his statement he stressed that he did not resign. End of services lang.
Diaz said that he already cried about the matter. He said that he will surely miss that show that he learned to love for almost seven years.
Diaz also stressed that while he does yet fully understand the decision of ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs, he will respect it.
“Basta I will try to move on.
Diaz also thanked all the people behind the show like NCA head Maria Ressa and all the televiewers.
Thank you so much.

Dennis on Heart: 'Professional, maganda, mabait'
Dahilan niya, past issues na sina Carlene at Cristine, and that everyone has moved on.
Kitang-kita ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) na parang nag-iba ang mood niya when we shifted the line of questioning from the two C's (Carlene and Cristine) na naging bahagi ng buhay niya, to Heart Evangelista na recently ay nakapareha niya for the first time, sa isang Dear Friend episode. Bigla siyang napa-"'Yan! ‘Yan na lang!," nang nakangiti.
LET'S TALK ABOUT HEART.
Aniya, "We'll never know. We'll never know kung ano ang puwedeng mangyari sa future.
So, posible na ligawan niya si Heart, if given the chance, especially now na sinasabi nga nilang pareho silang single?
"Puwede...
Bumalik ba ang pagkakaroon niya ng crush kay Heart when he finally worked with her?
"Mas lalo ko siyang nakilala, so, mas lalo ko siyang hinangaan dahil masaya siyang katrabaho. Professional, maganda, mabait.
- Philippine Entertainment Portal

Body Talk with Mariel Rodriguez
She wakes up at 8:30 a.m., takes a cup of coffee, prepares what she needs for the day, leaves her condo unit in Wack-Wack (Mandaluyong City) at 10 and by 10:30 she is at her dressing room in ABS-CBN for her make-up (by Edwin Aguilar who has been with her ever since). The show starts at 12:30 p.m. but she and co-hosts Valerie Concepcion, Pokwang and others have to be at the studio early because the main host, their “Pappy” Willie (Revillame), sometimes wants to rehearse out of the blue.
After Wowowee at around 3 p.m., Mariel attends to other activities, such as pictorials and interviews. If the Wowowee barkada has a show abroad, she tapes for advance episodes. She never forgets to squeeze in time for her boyfriend, Zanjoe Marudo. She goes home early, takes a light dinner, relaxes a bit by reading or watching TV and DVDs, and then goes to bed at 1 a.m.
“I am lucky pa nga because my schedule is not as bad as that of soap stars,” said Mariel. “I don’t have to work overnight. My daily routine is just like that of an ordinary office girl. I actually have a lot of spare time.”
Mariel has been in showbiz for four years. She had her debut on a TV action-adventure series in Singapore where she (and Denise Laurel) stayed for six months. Back home, she guested on Extra Challenge (the defunct GMA show hosted by Paolo Bediones) and joined MTV. Then, she moved to ABS-CBN and did Ok Fine Whatever (with Aga Muhlach, et al) and Pinoy Big Brother (PBB where she met Zanjoe) before she landed in Wowowee in 2006.
Mariel stands 5’3”, measures 34-26-34, and wears small-size shirt and size-seven shoes.
Do you eat three square meals a day...on time?
“No problem with that. We do potluck every day. I bring rice and Valerie the viand. The others also bring some food. We eat together in-between the segments.”
What kind of diet do you have?
“I eat anything except mayonnaise, pickles and liver. I love Filipino food. Iba pa rin ang may rice. Favorite dish? Sinigang.”
What vitamins do you take?
“Enervon-C. You know, more energy mas happy.”
What about snacks?
“I love sweets — for more energy. Sometimes, I take junk food. Ay, bad!”
With your kind of schedule, do you get enough sleep?
“I get an average of seven to eight hours per night. No, I don’t have any problem falling asleep.”
Favorite sleep wear?
“Comfortable pajamas and Hotpink lingerie. You know what, I really dress up for bed. I notice that women in the Philippines are not cautious when they go to bed. They put on a duster or a big T-shirt and that’s it. They are comfortable, all right. It’s important to wear the right underwear which should match your top. If you’re wearing white pajamas, kadiri naman kung loud ang kulay ng underwear mo, di ba? When I was in Big Brother’s house, most of my underwear were by Hotpink.”
How many pillows do you sleep with?
“Six, but I don’t use all. I put one under my head, one on each side and the rest basta andyan lang.”
Do you snore?
“Only when I’m really, really tired.”
Do you talk in your sleep?
“I do! Kahit tulog ako, madaldal pa rin. Hehehehehe! Inside Big Brother’s house, Ethel (Booba, her housemate) would tell me, ‘O, nagsasalita ka na naman!’ She said na mayroon daw akong inaaway but I didn’t know who.”
You don’t sleepwalk, do you?
“Thank God, I don’t! Baka kung saan ako mapunta.”
What’s the last thing that you do before you go to sleep?
“I pray...for my loved ones.”
And the first thing that you do when you wake up?
“As soon as the alarm clock in my cell phone rings, I check ‘missed calls’ and messages. I usually put my celfon on ‘silent’ mode before I go to sleep.”
How do you cope with stress?
“I get a massage every day. I’m addicted to it. There are masseurs at ABS-CBN...’yung shoulder massage lang naman. Or I listen to my favorite songs on my iPod. And yes, I read dumb and stupid books, like books about shopping; nothing heavy. I do read novels by Dan Brown every now and then. Or I watch romantic-comedies and suspense movies on DVD. I don’t watch horror movies at night, otherwise I get so scared that I can’t sleep. Grabe ang imagination ko.”
Do you work out?
“Not often, not at all! I’m more of a diet person. When I have to lose weight, I’d rather go on a diet than work out, which is wrong I know. But since I’m hyper-active, I guess I’m doing enough exercise. I’m always moving; I can’t stay put for long.”
What part of your body needs improvement?
“My thighs and my arms.”
What part is most vulnerable?
“Siempre, my heart!”
And what part is your favorite?
“My shoulders. They’re nice, di ba?”
How’s your love life? How are you and Zanjoe?
“We’ve been ‘on’ for less than a year. I’d known him for a while, we were going out, but I got to know him better and we started going steady only after we came out of Big Brother’s house.”
Is he your first showbiz boyfriend?
“He’s the first. I’ve had two, both not from showbiz. Zanjoe and I compliment each other. I’m madaldal and he is quiet. I’m hyper and he’s not.”
What’s your outlook in life?
“Optimistic. Why worry?”
You are hoarse. Did you get that from hosting Wowowee?
“No.
Name three guys who you think have nice bodies?
“Zanjoe, of course! Jon Avila. Derek Ramsay.”
And three women...
“Angelica Panganiban. Cristine Reyes. RR Enriquez.”
Using only body language, how would you make a guy know that you admire him?
“I look at him and smile.”

JC de Vera's efforts to become a better actor now paying off
THE NEXT LEADING MAN.
"Ibang level sila. Ibang batch sila, e, younger batch ako, e. True, mas matanda talaga sila sa akin. For the past three years, four years, sila yung mga nagiging inspirasyon ko, si Dennis, si Dingdong, si Richard.
Sana one of these days, maabot ko yung mga narating nila."
"Well, hopefully, yes," sambit ng 22-year-old actor.
Sobrang naging disiplinado ako, sobrang naging seryoso ako masyado.
As long as nagkakaroon ako ng magagandang projects like itong La Lola, tulad nung Obra, happy na ako."
STATUS ON GMA 7.
Parang ganun.
- Philippine Entertainment Portal

Foot injury forces Niña Ortiz to leave 'Survivor'
Castaway Niña Ortiz thought she only had a minor injury but Thai doctors told her she needed to put her foot in a cast that is prohibited from getting wet. With this development, the Sporty Mom needed to end her stint in Survivor Philippines.
In Thursday night's episode, Niña and JC Tiuseco were both brought to the hospital to check on their injuries; Niña's fractured toe and JC's infected foot.
Both Niña and JC returned to the Devil's Island before the start of the Immunity Challenge but with different purposes. JC remained in the game and was given the option to participate in the challenge while Niña sadly informed all the castaways that she had to leave the game because of her injury.
"Much as I want to stay, ang toe ko ayaw. I have a fractured toe. Mahirap para sa akin ang magpaalam sa inyo," said an emotional Niña. "All of you are very good competitors. Jarakay naman ako all the way."
She hugged all of the remaining castaways before the two tribes, Naak and Jarakay, went on with their Immunity Challenge called the "Giant Ball Challenge."
Before Niña left, Survivor Philippines host Paolo Bediones praised her and told her, "Pinatunayan mong isa kang totoong mandirigma."
For her farewell message, Niña told viewers: "Itong experience ko dito sa island, hindi ko maikukumpara sa kahit anong experience. Mahirap [ito] i-describe. Hindi man ako na nakarating sa dulo, hindi man ako naging Sole Survivor, it's not the prize, it's the privilege of having gone through...yung nag-sacrifice ka, naki-challenge ka, nakisama ka, legacy ko na yun."
Niña has one consolation: she was not voted off by her fellow Jarakay tribemates.
The Jarakay tribe won in the Immunity Challenge Thursday night, which means someone from Naak tribe will be going home on Friday's episode. But Paolo announced that a twist will transpire during the Tribal Council. - Philippine Entertainment Portal

Jericho Rosales happy with new soap's success
Actor Jericho Rosales shared his happiness with the positive feedback he has been receiving for his comeback series "Kahit Isang Saglit" with Malaysian actress Carmen Soo.
The actor said that Soo is also thrilled with all the positive reviews they are getting.
The actor extended his appreciation to the series' viewers. He hopes that people will continue to support the series until its very end.
“Maraming salamat at sana ay patuloy po niyong suportahan, medyo matagal pa naman po,” he said.
Rosales just arrived from Italy where he had a concert with other Kapamilya stars like Ai-Ai delas Alas, on screen partners Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson and Jed Madela.
The actor said that in December he will be back in Malaysia to launch his own brand of cologne- the “Jericho Cologne"- and to do a concert with his band.
Rosales said that he is focusing on his singing career now.
"Baka December mag-start ng recording for bagong album for the first quarter of next year, medyo na mi-miss ko na din," he said.
How's Heart?
"Wala akong balita," this is what Rosales said when asked about his ex-sweetheart actress Heart Evangelista.
The actor was caught by surprise with reports that Evangelista is now moving on and already dating a non-showbiz guy.
"What can I say? Siyempre mabilis ang pangyayari. I wish her all the best kung anuman ang pini-pursue niya ngayon whether career or personal or relationships. I wish her all the best things,' he said.
Rosales said that he is also trying to move on to make everybody happy.
When asked if he is still hurting with what happened to his affair with Evangelista, Rosales replied: "Mas maganda kung maayos ang mga bagay, hindi naman masakit pero nakaka-move ng konti. Pero if she finds a good guy, a good person, praise God.”
The actor said he wishes that he and Evangelista could have time to formally end their affair.
As human beings, as friends lang," he said.
The actor admitted that right now he has no time to date and meet other girls because of his busy schedule.
Rosales who is busy with "Kahit Isang Saglit" is also set to do a project with former on-and-off-screen partner Kristine Hermosa.
"Thrilled ako to work with her again. Medyo mahabang panahon ang lumipas bago kami magkasama uit," he said.
Rosales has an upcoming movie entitled “Baler,” which is an official entry to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.

Toni and Vhong back together in romantic dramedy 'My Only U'
Actor-comedian Vhong Navarro and actress-singer Toni Gonzaga are back together in the dramedy flick "My Only U."
The two who'd been considered as one of the country's successful big-screen team up expressed their excitement for their upcoming film under Star Cinema that moviegoers will surely love.
In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Navarro, who's known for his comedy antics admitted being nervous for his new project with Gonzaga.
For Gonzaga, she considered "My Only U" as the happiest film she'd ever made."Masayang masaya I think ito yung pinakamasayang pelikula na naagawa ko sa far kasi puro tawanan puro comedy, puro patawa sa set," the actress told the news site.
Gonzaga and Navarro said doing the film was a challenge for them especially because their characters in the film are not the usual comedy roles they are used to playing.
"Challenging kasi mahirap palang mag-drama," Navarro admitted.
"Yung character ko before ay happy, jolly pero dito (I'm Winona) na may pagka-negative ako sa buhay ayaw kong magmahal kasi baka mamatay ako," Gonzaga said.
In the movie, Navarro portrays the role of Bong who is secretly in love with Winona. He does everything to save her love who comes from a family which is under a curse: Winona is fated to die at 25.
Knowing that she doesn't have long to live, Winona never entertains the idea of falling in love and just focuses herself caring for her blind father (Dennis Padilla).
After Winona marks her 25th birthday, Bong and Winona find a second chance in life but eventually, Bong will discover through a medical exam result that Winona's days are indeed still numbered.
Bong tries everything to keep it as a secret from Winona, who now finds herself falling in love with Bong.
"How do you love someone when you know that someone can't stay," this is what Gonzaga shared about the story's plot.
Gonzaga and Navarro said thay they give their best for the film with the help of their director Ms. Cathy Molina-Garcia.
"My Only U" is still part of Star Cinema's 15th anniversary. To feel the love while laughing, watch "My Only U" in theatres nationwide this coming October 29.

TAPE Inc. supports EB Babes members on donut-house incident

"The Television and Production Exponent Inc. (TAPE,Inc.), in response to the report concerning the incident involving Mae dela Cerna, Saida Diola, and Ann Boleche, members of the dance group EB Babes, and in order to clarify the event that led to the said incident, states:
"On 05 October 2008, at about 8:45 p.m., Mae, Saida, and Ann were at the Krispy Kreme Donut Hauz at Greenhills, San Juan. Upon arriving at Krispy Kreme, they proceeded to line up to purchase donuts behind a woman named Mrs. Theresa dela Paz. Unknowingly, Mae, Saida, and Ann had mistakenly cut into the line before Mrs. dela Paz's family.
"After noticing Mrs. dela Paz's annoyance at their mistake, Mae asked Saida and Ann to move behind the Dela Paz Family. However, when Mae, Saida, and Ann were already at the counter paying for their purchases, Mrs. dela Paz suddenly pinched Saida on her lower shoulder. Mrs. dela Paz, unprovoked by Mae, Saida, or Ann, called them insulting names and cast aspersions on their character. At this point, Mr. dela Paz, presumably the husband of Mrs. dela Paz, approached the group, and said, "Kanina pa kayo a!
"In order to avoid any disorder, a security guard guided Mae, Saida, and Ann toward the other restaurant exit. However, they found that Mr. dela Paz was there to bar their exit. Mae decided to apologize to Mr. dela Paz for whatever misunderstanding had occurred, and she told Mr. dela Paz, "Kuya pasensiya na po, akala po yata ng asawa ninyo siningitan namin siya sa pila, hindi naman po, sorry na po."
"However, instead of accepting Mae's sincere apology, Mr. dela Paz and Mrs. dela Paz, who likewise approached, continued to berate them and called them insulting names.
"Saida then told the others that they should just leave. While turning to leave, Mr. dela Paz threw the contents of his coffee cup at Mae and threatened to hit Saida. Mr. dela Paz was merely restrained by his son. Mae suffered first-degree burns from her collarbone to her arm and had to be taken to the Cardinal Santos Medical Hospital to be treated. Various witnesses of the incident can attest to the event which took place.
"TAPE fully supports Mae, Saida, and Ann on this matter. Mr. Dela Paz's actions cannot be condoned; violence can never be condoned as a suitable reaction, especially against women, even in response to a presumed fault. Worse, the violence was performed after Mae had already apologized for their unintentional acts. Since the proper proceedings have already been commenced, TAPE expects that this matter shall soon be resolved through the proper channels."
"We were sincerely apologetic for our mistake in getting in line behind Mrs. dela Paz. However, we feel that Mr. and Mrs. dela Paz's actions were clearly unfair and worse, excessively violent. We cannot tolerate the acts of Mr. and Mrs. dela Paz, who showed such violence and cruelty, especially to Mae, and we are forced to protect our rights by bringing this matter to the proper authorities.
"On October 6, 2008, after investigation by Assistant City Prosecutor Angelica Formaran, where all parties were allowed to give our statements personally, Asst. City Prosecutor Formaran recommended the filing of a criminal information for less serious physical injuries against Mr. dela Paz for the injuries suffered by Mae.
"We hope that the public will appreciate that we are only asserting our rights not to be the subject of violence and aggression, just like any citizen should. We would also like to extend our thanks to all those who assisted us, especially the security guards, the police and the good hearted people who were then present to assist us."

Goodbye, Samsoon!

You have exactly one week left to enjoy the romantic comedy "Ako si Kim Samsoon." Having a successful run capturing the hearts of the prime time viewers, GMA's first Koreanovela remake will surely be missed.
But wait--the viewers are not the only ones who will miss this
heart-warming show! iGMA asked the cast of Ako si Kim Samsoon what or who they will miss most about the show and here's what they had to say:
Regine Velasquez:
Nasa-sad ako kasi ma mi-miss ko everybody. The staff, the cast, the crew, everybody! Kasi syempre we've been working together for a month and a half din halos so I'm going to miss everybody. This is such a great experience for me. The taping is so light, wala masyadong aberya, wala lang. We were all just having fun, eating, making tsismis, hay naku ang sarap-sarap so sana sa susunod kong project ganito din.
Mark Anthony Fernandez:
Para bang pag nandyan siya, she makes us want to be a better person.
Eugene Domingo:
Iba-iba talaga 'yung flavor eh. So definitely ito iba kasi kengkoy eh at saka kain nang kain. Tumaba kami lahat (laughs)! Lahat kami parang naka-fat suit. Lahat kami enjoy kumain, enjoy magtawanan, enjoy magwork. Everybody is so generous of their talent, of their time, of their food (smiles). Bonggang bongga! Bigay na bigay!
Jennica Garcia:
Tessie Tomas:
Parang nakakalungkot naman patapos na. [I had a] wonderful [experience], the taping is about to wind down. Medyo kinda sad, and parang nakakabigla na ang bilis, parang mabilis na mabilis ang taping, short and sweet, so to speak.
Direk Dominic Zapata:
(smiles). Si Sheena was a revelation to me because this is the first time I've worked with her na malaki 'yung role nya at saka 'yung demand ko sa kanya was sa comedy na hindi ko pa nagagawa. She said she wants to rest muna. Hopefully I get to work with her so I won't have to miss her. Masaya ang grupo and I'd like to think na everybody feels the same way. I mean, each person [and] not only Regine. I know Regine's happy with
the show, she's happy with the whole production.
Everyone in the cast agrees that they had a great time doing Ako si Kim Samsoon. Sharing laughs with each other definitely made their work much easier and lighter. In fact, this maybe their secret as to why the show is such a big success. - iGMA.tv

Cristy Fermin fights back, hurls accusations against Nadia Montenegro
After former actress Nadia Montenegro’s scathing remarks against television and radio showbiz talk show host and columnist Cristy Fermin last week, it was Fermin’s turn on Sunday to drop a bombshell against Montenegro.
In an exclusive interview on “The Buzz,” an angry Fermin answered each accusation thrown by Montenegro in the same show last week. Fermin, one of the hosts of The Buzz, was in Canada when Montenegro gave her exclusive interview.
Fermin called Montenegro a liar and branded her statements inconsistent. She denied that she was the reason Montenegro and her erstwhile friend Gretchen Barretto had a falling out.
The host stood pat by her allegation that it was Montenegro who circulated a nasty rumor about the alleged fight between Barretto and her partner, businessman Antonio "Tonyboy" Cojuangco.
She accused Montenegro of secretly giving birth to a baby 20 years ago and introducing the infant to her partner and family as her adopted child.
Fermin also slammed Montenegro for dragging her 97-year-old mother into their fight.
She also denied Montenegro’s insinuation that she was asking money from actors in exchange for good write-ups.
As for Montenegro’s threat that she would reveal more explosive details if Fermin would not back down, Fermin responded: “[Ibato] mo sa akin ang basurang sinasabi mo at tiyak na babalik [ito] sa mukha mo.”
Below are excerpts from Fermin’s interview on “The Buzz” Sunday.
On her alleged role in the rift between Montenegro and Barretto
Wala akong alam diyan.
On her alleged practice to ask money from actresses and actors
On her mother’s condition and libel case
On Montenegro’s ‘adopted’ child

Sunshine Dizon returns via 'Obra'

Young actress Sunshine Dizon is back after taking a leave from show business following her hospitalization a few months back. For her comeback vehicle, Sunshine was chosen by GMA-7 to star in the drama anthology Obra for the month of October.
Sunshine clarified that her poor health was caused by incessant migraine attacks and not depression or any other serious illness as previously speculated.
I have really bad migraine and that was the reason why I was hospitalized for about a month and a half," explained Sunshine to the members of the press last October 3, at a press conference held at the Imperial Palace Suites on Tomas Morato, Quezon City.
GOD'S WILL. To counter off these chronic attacks, Sunshine developed a habit of dashing straight to the nearest hospital to have her self injected with a powerful painkiller. These sudden trips to the hospital became frequent particularly during tapings.
"Siyempre, ayaw mo naman ma pack-up ‘yong shooting," she reasoned out.
Sunshine eventually got so used with the medication that her body soon demanded more than the normal dosage. Aware and cautious of some people's tendency to exhibit narrow-mindedness in dealing with a situation like hers, Sunshine politely offered, "People can be judgmental because they're not knowledgeable with what I'm going through."
Despite being sidelined, which in effect forced her home network to hand some projects originally intended for her to fellow stars, Sunshine believes that the incident was God's will of freeing her from the previous medication. The long rest led the young actress to discover alternative medicines that would help soothe her recurring migraine attacks.
"I'm trying to shun away form taking too many medications din," Sunshine, who resorted to natural means, enthused.
BACK ON TRACK. For her television return, Sunshine is happy and proud to be given the lead role in Obra following Katrina Halili and JC de Vera.
Sunshine's Obra stint will feature four stories directed by four equally good directors. The episodes "Rosa Negra," "Drama Queen," "Butch," and "Sapi" listed topnotch directors Joel Lamangan, Maryo J. delos Reyes, Toppel Lee, and Jun Lana.
"Actually, they [GMA-7 management] really made sure that the stories that will be given to me is sana daw ma-challenge ako which is very challenging naman," said Sunshine.
In "Butch," Sunshine takes on the role of a lesbian who experiences the joy and misery of being a surrogate mom only to lose her child. She then assumes the role of a has-been actress ravaged by vices while still pining for a lost love in "Drama Queen." In "Rosa Negra," Sunshine portrays the character of a negrita who remains hopeful in a world of cynicism. The last episode, in time for the Halloween, is "Sapi" where Sunshine portrays the role of a woman possessed by an evil spirit with a sinister past. - Philippine Entertainment Portal

Ces Drilon returns to ‘Bandila’

Three months after a kidnapping ordeal in Mindanao, veteran broadcast journalist Cecilia Victoria ‘Ces’ Orena-Drilon will return as co-anchor of ABS-CBN's late night news program “Bandila” starting this Monday.
Returning with co-anchors Korina Sanchez and Henry Omaga-Diaz, Drilon said viewers of Bandila should continue to expect excellent and relevant news stories from the late night newscast.
“Tatlong buwan kaming hindi nagsama-sama nina Korina at Henry, isa iyon. So magkakasama kaming muling tatlo. Mga istoryang makabuluhan,” she said in an interview in ABS-CBN morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda.”
Drilon said she will be presenting a segment on the physical and psychological effects of the Mindanao conflict on soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). She said it will be her first time to be allowed to enter AFP’s medical center in V. Luna.
Siguro mga tatlong storya makakabuo ako, siguro abangan nila Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, tapos ang maganda rito pinagkatiwalaan kami na makapasok for the first time sa psychiatric ward ng V. Luna,” she said.
Drilon has been known for her credibility, courage and excellence in gathering and presenting news. Last June, she and her news team including Prof. Octavio Dinampo were kidnapped by suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits in Sulu. They were released after nine days in captivity.
“Bandila”, the late night newscast of ABS-CBN, is the first Philippine program to earn a nomination for an International Emmy Award for their report “The Subic Rape Case Promulgation.”

Burglars take P10M from Alfie Lorenzo
Kabilang dito ang 3,000 US dollars; 2,500 Euros; 1,100 British pounds; 5,000 Thai Baht; at 10,000 Hong Kong dollars.
- Philippine Entertainment Portal

Luna Mystica casting is almost complete
Possibly the last primetime soap of GMA 7 to premiere this year replacing Codename: Asero, the Kapuso network is finalizing the cast for the second soap of Heart Evangelista in the Kapuso network, Luna Mystica. It is set to start production middle of this month.
A story conference is set next week with RJ Nuevas handling the head writing job and Mike Tuviera doing the directing.
Heart plays the title role and will play twins — Luna the ugly but good-hearted rich girl and Celestina, her avenging shadow. GMA is still working on Heart's "ugly" look so as not to be compared to her last ABS-CBN soap Hiram Na Mukha, where she also played a deformed face lead.
Playing her partners will be Mark Anthony Fernandez, Luis Alandy, and Mark Herras in a very special role.
Mark's participation in Luna Mystica is a short one as he is set to reunite with original partner Jennylyn Mercado in an upcoming Sine Novela.
Playing two friendly fairies are Pauleen Luna and Michelle Madrigal, who are both very vocal in admitting that they are not on speaking terms. It would be an interesting set for the two exes of JC de Vera on how they would act playing friends on cam.
Two ex Kapuso stars also return to GMA 7 after a short stint over at ABS-CBN: Sheryl Cruz playing Heart's mother and Eddie Gutierrez.
Also in the cast are Iwa Motto as Mark's partner, Ariel Rivera, and the pair of Rita Avila and Gardo Versoza last seen together in the Sine Novela Magdusa Ka.
Other roles are still being cast before the camera starts rolling for Luna Mystica. - Philippine Entertainment Portal

Juday: No date yet for wedding

Actress Judy Ann Santos said that she and fiancé actor-host Ryan Agoncillo have not yet determined where and when they will exchange marital vows.
Santos said they are still working hard to save money for their big day.
The actress said she is aware that marriage is a serious matter, which is why she and Agoncillo do not want to rush things.
"Alam ng bawat tao na may kabiyak na it's a long process, a long way to go. We don't want to jump into one chapter of our lives na hindi kami prepared, so pinaghahandaan," she said.
Santos who turned 30 last May admitted that having a baby is also one of her concerns.
The actress is enjoying herself as a superstar mommy to her adopted daughter Johanna Lois or Yohan.
The well-loved actress also thanked those who have been showing their love and support for her most awaited wedding. But she also stressed that they will stick to their plans -- to work and save money for their future.
Kami ang masusunod doon, kaso hindi pa natataon marami pang dapat asikasuhin," she said.
Just recently, hosts Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino vowed to pay for the flower arrangements for the wedding.
Santos hopes that she and Agoncillo will able to see their plans through.
"We are hoping na makarating kami sa dapat naming puntahan," she said.
Santos, who just finished her rated A movie entitled "Kulam", is now busy with her upcoming 'nurse serye' "Humingi Ako Sa Langit" with Derek Ramsay.
"Humingi Ako Sa Langit" is the country's first medical television series that will air soon on ABS-CBN.

Phoemela Barranda doing fine after car accident

ABS-CBN News’ Star Patroller Phoemela Barranda said on Saturday that she is doing fine after a car accident that left her and boyfriend musician Ira Cruz with minor injuries.
Their vehicle crashed into a street light post in Urdaneta Village along EDSA in Makati City at around 2 a.m. Saturday.
Barranda said X-ray examinations and contusion tests made at the Medical City found no serious injuries, although the model-TV host said she sustained some bruises.
"They (the press) were all on the site kaagad. EDSA southbound between Buendia Ayala. Grabe...my airbag inflated so I got super scared, we didn't know if we had any injuries. But we're ok, bruises lang," she said in a text message.
Barranda made it clear that she and boyfriend Ira Cruz were neither having an argument nor drinking alcohol at the time. She pointed out that they just came from her dinner celebration with some of her friends, and that the car crash was just an accident.
"Car lost control and hit the side street. I freaked out after especially when I saw the paparazzi and cameras. I was telling Ira to call towing and for us to leave the site. But definitely quarrelling is not the reason. We came from Basilios to sort of still celebrate my birthday there with Ira and some friends. It was just an accident," she said.

Rhian celebrates 18th b-day the ‘La Lola’ way

Before officially embarking on her biggest break as the lead star of the local adaptation of the popular Argentinian romantic comedy series, La Lola, GMA-7 first treated young actress-model Rhian Ramos with a grand party last October 3 to celebrate her 18th birthday.
Held at the Rigodon Ballroom of the Manila Peninsula hotel in Makati City, the controversial young actress was joined by her family, friends, co-stars and network bigwigs in an evening specially prepared to introduce Rhian to the public, both as a full-fledged woman and as one of GMA-7's top young female stars.
"It feels great to be 18!" a blushing Rhian, whose real name is Rhian Denise Ramos Howell, said before acknowledging the presence of everyone who took time out to partake in the celebration.
In an interview days before the big celebration, Rhian described her debut's motif as something that is in line with the colors representing her upcoming series.
"Dahil yung La Lola, ibig sabihin sa akin nun transformation—from a man to a woman—ganun din yung debut ko; from a young girl growing up to a woman. So, transformation talaga siya.
IN BLOOM. The guests arrived in spurts with veteran actor Eddie Garcia arriving as early as 8 p.m. By around nine o' clock, the young Kapuso stars started filling up the venue either in group or by their lonesome.
A special AVP was first shown—documenting Rhian's young life journey through pictures and video clips of her past commercials and TV appearances. After the short tribute, Rhian—who donned a simple yet chic white gown created by designer Richard Papa—was formally presented.
Some of Rhian's guests that evening include Richard Gomez, Paolo Paraiso, Mike Tan, Mark Bautista, Aljur Abrenica, Mark Escudero, Marky Cielo, Dominic Roco, Dion Ignacio, Paolo Paraiso, German Moreno, Kris Bernal, Iza Calzado, La Salle Green Archer's Simon Atkins, director Mark Reyes, Eddie Garcia, and German Moreno. The cast of La Lola also came and even rendered a special production number together with the debutante.
Although initially announced as part of the customary 18 Roses ceremony, Raymond Gutierrez, Alfred Vargas, and Dingdong Dantes failed to make it and participate in the cotillion number.
Serving as Rhian's escort was young male star JC de Vera, who patiently and quietly accompanied the celebrator throughout the evening. Marvin Agustin, who co-starred with Rhian albeit in a cameo role, in I.T.A.L.Y. and the upcoming La Lola, handled hosting chores.
The evening, of course, would not be complete without the presence of GMA-7 bigwigs led by Senior Vice President for Entertainment Wilma Galvante. GMA Films President Annette Gozon-Abrogar led the ceremonial toast in honor of the debutante.
Bagging the honor to play lead in a primetime series, according to Rhian, was more than enough to make her birthday even more special.
Said Rhian, "For my 18th birthday, one of the hugest gifts I ever received for any birthday ever, I got for my 18th birthday and it's La Lola. It's huge for me, really, it means so much to me that I'm emotional over it. And all I hope is that it's a successful show that makes the Filipino audience happy. I want them to watch it and not think about whatever problems they might be having and laugh their hearts out." - Philippine Entertainment Portal

Piolo, Angel adopted as children of Impasug-ong, Bukidnon

On-screen partners Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin have been declared official and adoptive children of Impasug-ong -- the first class municipality in the northeastern part of Bukidnon, where the two filmed parts of their first movie together, “The Land Down Under.”
“We are formally adopted, legally adopted as children of Impasug-ong- si Angel, si direk Rory Quintos, at ako,” Pascual said.
The actor said said there was a ritual performed including the chants of the town’s datus.
“The night before we left mayroong ceremony there's a ritual nagpatay sila ng native chicken. There were two datus na nagbigay sila ng chant. Sumayaw kami ni Angel we wore their native costumes. May bonfire,” the actor added.
Pascual said he and Locsin will never forget the ceremony night as it was very lovely, and an unexpected milestone in their lives.
Everyone is so friendly and hospitable,” he added.
Locsin said that they stayed in Bukidnon for almost a month and they had the most wonderful experiences with their new friends.
“Gusto naming bumalik agad ng Bukidnon. Sa totoo lang na-mimiss namin iyong mga friends namin doon mga cowboys, mga cowgirls,” she said.
Locsin said that in Bukidnon they were treated well not only by the province's officials but most especially by the Impasug-ong people. “Napaka-spoiled namin doon sobra,” she said.
They said they will never forget the warm acceptance they received while filming their movie. Pascual added that almost all of the people they met in Bukidnon were really nice to them.
“Ang sarap ng experience. Everyday we would wake up looking forward sa everyday shoot. So ang sarap,” he said.
The two will be flying to Darwin, Australia to complete the movie project.
Locsin admitted that it would not be easy for them to shoot abroad, although they are ready for it.
“Of course mahirap.
“Sa Darwin ay different environment at maraming scenes sa Australia… we don’t know what to expect. It's both our first time in Darwin, Australia. I’m excited to see the horses at the outback,” Pascual said.
The two invited moviegoers to support and watch their upcoming movie “The Land Down Under.”
“Malapit na po. Of course more or less half way through sa film we are heading of f to Australia next week,” Pascual said.
“The Land Down Under" is set to hit movie houses in November.
