Dolphy thanks moviegoers; hopes for film industry revival
King of comedy Dolphy extended his appreciation to all the people who supported and watched his latest movie "Dobol Trobol" with comedy prince Vic Sotto.
In an interview, Dolphy said that the movie and honors he received from his recently published biography, as well as ABS-CBN's special tribute to him on his birthday--all of it meant a lot to his family.
"Maraming salamat sa mga tumangkilik ng 'Dobol Trobol' at saka yung mga tribute ko, malaking katuwaan sa pamilya ko at saka talagang pinataba niyo ang puso ko na mahal pa din niyo ako. Maraming salamat," he said.
Dolphy said that his film is now on its 4th week and still showing in 60 theaters nationwide. "Showing pa 4th week na ngayon," he said.
He said that he's really elated with "Dobol Trobol" not only because he's teamed up with Sotto but because it took almost three years for him to finally do another movie.
"Awa ng Diyos after three years na hindi ako gumagawa (ng pelikula) parang nakarecover na," Dolphy said.
When asked if there's a sequel of the film 'Dobol Trobol' he replied: "Well pinaplano, pinaplano."
The veteran actor also said he is wishing for a revival of the Philippine movie industry.
"Mabuti naman sana ay magpatulay na ito at manumbalik ang movie industry at sa ganoon ay maraming magkaroon ng hanapbuhay," he said.
Dolphy will soon grace television screens with ABS-CBN's drama-fantasy series "Utoy." In the series the actor will be working with child star Makisig Morales. He said that while it was fun working with Morales,he still a had a hard time doing dramatic scenes.
"Well mayroon akong ginagawang telenovela sa 2 'yung 'Utoy'. Medyo drama na fantasy pang bata. Kami ni Makisig okay naman, naninibago lang ako dahil may iyakan. Kako ayaw ko nang maiyakan. Masyadong mabigat sa puso," he explained.
