Ryan Agoncillo distanced himself from the controversy that briefly rocked the 20-year talent-manager relationship between fiancée Judy Ann Santos and Alfie Lorenzo, saying it would be "disrespectful" of him to meddle.

"There are lines that you don't cross. There are things that you don't mess with. Kung may palagay ka, may panukala ka [na] hindi din naman importante huwag ka ng makialam," he told reporters in a chance interview after a press conference for ABS-CBN's newest afternoon series, "Pieta."

Agoncillo said what is more important is that Santos and Lorenzo have already settled their differences following the actress's apology.

The misunderstanding began when the actress delayed her contract signing with ABS-CBN as her lawyer looked over the document. Lorenzo apparently got angry by the actress's decision. Santos said she only wanted to know the "scope of her work" under her contract that will bind her for the next two years.

Reports said Lorenzo blamed Agoncillo for allegedly influencing Santos's decision.

Agoncillo denied that he had a hand in his fiancée's move to seek a lawyer's advice. He said Santos is a "very intelligent woman" who is capable of making her own decisions.

He also denied knowing the contents of the contract, which reportedly would secure both his and Santos' careers with the network.

"I'm not aware of the details of the contract but if you're asking me if I'm grateful for all the help Tito Alfie has given me, of course… kung kay Tito Alfie lang [ang] pag-u-usapan, malaki ang utang na loob ko sa kanya. But if you're talking about the contract, I'm not privy to the details," he said.

Agoncillo added: "I give respect to Tito Alfie not just because she's Juday's manager [but] also I respect what he has done in the industry and for the industry."

He was optimistic that both Santos and Lorenzo could put the issue behind them, saying their relationship would only strengthen further because they were able to hurdle this challenge.
